No they don’t, not after deciding to hold an election. Try and remember, it’s a federal election administered by the state. Not a state election. It is subject to federal laws and regulations. You are arguing the Jim Crow south could have aligned themselves with states that had much lower populations of black people to dilute their black citizens vote and not have run afoul of the fourteenth and fifteenth.

The Constitution is very clear on the States having the right to select their electors how they see fit. Show me where in the Constitution this is not the case for Presidential elections, and I’ll consider the argument. Until then, everything else is just deflection.

Yes. They get to elect the representatives for their State Legislature. And the State Legislature then gets to legislate and decide how the electors in their state cast their vote for President.
