Agreed on the criminal charges versus impeachment.

It was never meant to go this far. He never intended to be President. The campaign was about marketing the Trump brand. Second best in the primaries would have been perfect to launch his news or media empire and to bolster the value of his name and his properties.

While he knew he could count on his supporters to stick with him even if he shot someone on Fifth Avenue, I am convinced he knew that his past and especially his financials could not stand up to the constant scrutiny normally reserved for a party nominee, let alone a President.

Now he’s stuck out in the open. The defenses he has built to protect the information related to his business and his past are crumbling one by one by one. They were barely strong enough to stave off a barely interested press and a completely uninterested party vetting process. They are surely not strong enough to withstand even marginally competent legal or prosecutorial scrutiny.

He underestimated the stupidity of the American public. Or at least a majority of the voting portion of it it minus 3 million.

I’d only add to this, he underestimated the idiocy of the Democratic Party as well, to put forth literally the only candidate perhaps on the planet, he actually could beat.

I can’t argue with that.

I hold Obama largely responsible for that. He essentially pre-litigated the thing by holding in favor of Clinton over Biden and prevented what in most cases would have been a robust selection process. The Sanders phenomenon likely would not have happened had their been more credible candidates from the center.
