It cost my wife $40000 (in student loans) for an associate’s in bakery at community college and that job started around $11/hr when she graduated. Tuitions are ridiculous. That’s all there is to it.

What I don’t get is why students are still getting raked over the coals for interest on these guaranteed loans. There’s literally no risk for the banks. If a student defaults, not only does the bank get their money, but the Federal government goes after the defaulter (on the taxpayers’ dime). Makes perfect sense.

Who in the world pays $100 grand for an Associates Degree that’s just absurd and I really don’t believe it. I’m of the opinion you may have overdosed on the college loan opportunities that were available to you and most of that money has little to do with any education you may have received.

And those Nordic countries are getting a little peeved with ole Bernie who keeps using them as an example of his brand of socialism! The Nordic countries threw out his brand of socialism in the 1960’s because it didn’t work and the Nordic government models have nothing in common with the Bernie brand which is more in line with socialist Cuba and Venezuela, both are s-holes on the globe.

Let me correct it for you.

YOU will loan money to someone for an education. The amount of interest you charge them is going to be based on the odds of you getting all your money back and making a profit.

Now once that person you’ve loaned money to graduates they will start to pay YOU money.

If they get behind, YOU will be responsible to try and keep them current. Eventuall (after quite a bit of time), the government will give you ONLY the amount outstanding that was loaned. You’ve not got legal fee’s, and such that were a part of the process.

I don’t think taxpayers are on the hook for the big loans your wife took. Those were private loans. Federal school loans for a low cost CC degree would be minimal. She got taken.

There are different types of studen loans. Some government backed, some are not.
