Honestly, formal ‘reparations’ is not high on my list. But like Six is saying…hopefuly we do something, take some bold actions.

With a 50/50 sentate, Biden will be lucky to pass one major piece of legislation.

I think your OP would make a very good point if the senate was 60/40 D, or even like 55/45.

50/50 and slim lead in the house is still pretty slugish going,

Not true. The Vice President is among 12 democratic superstars who were all in on a bill just a few months back. Is this an actual thing or is it a con job? Was it an election ploy to be immediatly forgotten after Nov. 3?

Yeah, I’m not comfortable sharing to many details…maybe I should. God knows we could use the money this year, maybe I should spread the word…but feels a little TMI.

But man, it is EXPENSIVE and labor intensive, and relentless. Can’t let up. 365 a year. And the success rate isn’t 100%.

Sure they can vote on that. IF it passes it just creates a commission to study the impact of slavery and make RECOMMENDATIONS about reparations. This bill does not give reperations.

Elements of Trump’s Platinum Plan proposal did this. Target minority-owned businesses and home ownership with subsidized loans and/or grants.

I propose adding on a habitat-for-humanity element to that. And all the people protesting systemic racism without knowing how they can REALLY make a difference can volunteer to help build those houses.

No doubt that many black family lines are behind the wealth curve because their progenitors were denied home and business ownership in previous generations. (For many families, passing wealth to subsequent generations is most likely in the form of the family home or maybe a small family business.)

Programs that encourage the current generations to get onto that wagon seem well targeted to me.

Straight cash payments isn’t going to fix anything.

And even efforts to boost home and business ownership will fail without a parallel effort to change the fatherless paradigm so prevalent in the black demographic.

Why would the CRA be a benchmark that the 14th amendment wouldn’t be?
What makes the CRA the definitive (for reparations) “its fixed” point?
