It went against a health regulation deemed necessary. Just like restaurant inspections are health regulations deemed necessary. If people don’t think they’re necessary, take legal action.
Looks like they do. There is video evidence.
It would be awesome if life were so simple. Unfortunately, we have to worry about others. Or don’t. It’s an individual choice.

Selective freedom for others based on your morality? Tsk, tsk.
Freedom includes risk tolerance.

Video evidence of what? Conduct you have deemed unacceptable?
My morality? No. Science and ethics. Science says this is a communicable airborne disease spread through close prolonged contact. Ethics says it is in society’s best interest to have healthy, living members.
My morals might dictate I should do what I can do help others. Science and ethics can dictate for everyone else.
I haven’t deemed anything. Their local and state government did. I had no role in the decision.

This is new context to the thread. They weren’t even at the gym to exercise. Just gathered up to flaunt the rules, looking for trouble. Neat.

Morality and ethics are the same thing. Greek and Latin.
“Science”. As interpreted by…
High modernism is a morality. A faith. It is no more logical than any other.
Mask usage is as high as it has been since this thing started, yet spikes everywhere. Directives change frequently and contradict. It’s not working and they feel it.
And now because of politics they are being told they have to give up their lives for “the common good”. By “their” government. Or else.
They are being given directives with which they cannot comply and survive. Another common characteristic of high modernism.
From people who tell them to mask between bites, protests are acceptable for thousands but working out with 20 is not, no haircut for you, but I’m on tv, no indoor dining I had the sliding door open.
The directives are making criminals out of the law abiding while the criminals are allowed to run rampant.
How is that moral?

Yes you did. You have no role, other than support, in the enforcement. You don’t get to push it away.

I do support the position. I had no role in establishing or enforcing it. If I did not exist, the situation would be no different.

Of course you do, legitimizing the directive. Why do you support a position that imposes on somebody else?
Would that be ok for me to do to you?
There are numerous definitions and differentiations of “morals” and “ethics.” Some see the two as synonymous. I do not. To me, “morality” is an individual or groups beliefs as to right and wrong. “Ethics” is value placed on actions, typically by society, which can be in the context of right and wrong.
So. Mask usage is high, yet there still is spread of disease. Is the best course of action to abandon masks? If there is spread with these measures in place, what would happen with no prevention? If it’s bad now, what happens when we completely take our foot off the brake? I don’t see the logic. Things are bad, lets do something that will make it really bad. I don’t see why that is an argument.
These are bad times. I’m sorry they are inconvenienced or even suffering hardships. These aren’t normal times. Looking at daily numbers for the last two weeks, COVID is the leading cause of death in the United States. COVID is the largest source of ICU bed use. It’s going to get worse. If people don’t now, we will reach a point where virtually everyone knows someone severely affected or killed by COVID. I realize that my job makes me biased because I see those people everyday. I’d argue people are equally biased when they haven’t seen the impact of the disease.
So, people can decide to go through hardship to save lives and health. They can decide not to. I have no problem with placing my morality on either of those choices.

I “legitimize” a state and local health ordinance? I’m flattered. I support a measure that prevents death and loss of health during a pandemic with airborne community spread. Guilty.
Maybe. Give me a specific example.

I don’t think abandoning masks is anymore of a solution than jailing people for not wearing them. I don’t know what would happen, I only know what is happening and what we always do. I think the time to gain mask compliance was in March. And Fauci blew it.
I also think compliance might improve if the people imposing the “mandates” were not hypocrites and offered some solutions for the problems their mandates create.
You like “things are bad, let’s keep doing what we’ve been doing better”? Where would we be right now if they hadn’t so proudly grabbed power?

And I believe you. Sorry don’t fix it.
They are going through hardships and people are still dying. And they are being told they suck.
You don’t get it do you?
People can spread COVID for up to 3 days before symptoms show up. Plus there are people who have symptoms that disappear, and can still spread it. Then you have people like Cam Newton who never have symptoms and are still contagious.
This is why we have lockdowns. I like this stuff about as much as you do, but unfortunately it’s necessary right now until we can vaccinate people en masse.
