It makes sense if you know that his plan to conquer inflation is to pump as much oil and gas as possible to bring down the prices on everything.

It is of course a very stupid plan… but if you know what his plan is it at least makes sense in the funhouse mirror that is his mind.

The “deal” wasn’t the problem.

There were a lot of problems, the deal was definitely one of them. Trump releasing thousands of Taliban including the guy who wound up leading them BEFORE the withdrawal was a problem. He also negotiated a drop dead withdrawal date that would happen just months after Biden took office, with thousands of people to extract from Afghanistan. It would take a monumental effort to get all of these people cleared and processed before that date. And did the Trump administration work night and day to get this done?

No, they didn’t process a single person. They just left it all for the Biden administration to do, with just a couple months to do it. Biden got them to extend the date for a couple months but that was all the Taliban was going to allow. This, along with Biden dealing with the highest surge of COVID on record and the country reeling from an attempted insurrection.

And despite the Trump administration doing nothing to help facilitate the withdrawal, we got out and got as many people processed as possible. And all along the way the GOP, who did nothing to help when they could, did nothing but pick fly ■■■■ out of pepper and whinge all day he was doing it wrong. So for those who had a problem with how we got out, maybe it should have started a lot sooner. Maybe we could have held off on releasing all those Taliban until after we left.

That was the problem. The equipment we left behind was disabled and make into scrap for the most part.
