So people are going stir crazy and trying to get out. With social distancing they are heading out into Utah’s badlands. There was only a 10% chance of showers on Monday. Near Goblin Valley State Park, they had what my grandma used to call “a gully washer” roll through.

This is video from some people trying to escape the narrow canyon as water pores in from the storm. No death in this video. But try to imagine that’s you and your kids trying to race through the canyon someplace wide enough to allow you to climb to hopefully higher ground.

Unfortunately a 7 year old and a 3 year old were swept away by the flood waters and their bodies have now been found.

A 7-year-old girl died Monday and her 3-year-old sister’s remains were found on Tuesday after flash floods swept through the slot canyons near Goblin Valley State Park in southeastern Utah, authorities said.

There is another video showing water coming out of the canyon that’s 3 to 4 feet deep. On the slickrock, not many people would be able to keep footing or a handhold with that kind of flow.
