Lauren Boebert threatened to use the power of the government to punish a company who’s policies she disagrees with.
On Twitter, she said: Next year, the woke Disney lobbyists will ask Congress to extend Micky Mouse’s trademark.
I think not.
IMO the word “authoritarianism” is often misused here.
I wonder if we all can agree this is an example of it.

Disney being able to extend what should be in public domain beyond what has been the standard in the past is a conversation worth having.
Doing it for political retribution should not be part of that discussion

Agreed. Although also, I can’t imagine a world where Disney doesn’t get that trademark renewed.

That’s the problem- the politics will be able to slide in under the guise they shouldn’t get to extend it again anyway.

No. A congress person publicly stated her intention to use the power of her position to punish a private corp. because of their ideological stance.
That’s all I got.
Authoritarianism, wouldn’t you agree?

If that the case yes…using power of state to punish political opposition.
Is that a problem for you?
The Mouse will not like this.

Yeah, of course that’s a problem for me.

I thought this really captured the GOP’s position nicely—right next to each other on the timeline, too.

Unreal. No sense of self awareness what so ever.
It’s extra weird because it is real—and reflective of the view here, too.

First they destroyed the NFL, and now they’re going to take down Disney! Oh, wait. . .
The record-shattering postseason ratings cap off a stellar season for the NFL overall in terms of ratings. The 272 regular-season games averaged 17.1 million viewers over television and digital platforms, a 10% increase over 2020 and the league’s highest average since 2015. During the season, NFL games accounted for 91 of the top 100 telecasts on television, according to Nielsen. Local TV ratings, which have been less of a bright spot for the NFL, also increased in 21 of the league’s 32 markets.
