we will find out by next week when the Kurd and Turk start fighting each-other. If you think Turkey is invading Northern Syria to help them your clueless.

Anybody who thinks the United States gives a flying **** about the Kurds needs a reality check. Nothing but a short term pawn and no way will the United States anger Turkey by allowing a Kurdish state to come into existence.

Not a partisan issue, by the way. Neither a Republican President nor a Democratic President would give a flying ****.

Stated? No.

Implied? That is a whole other kettle of fish.

But, but, Hunter Biden!!
Throwing the Kurds under the bus is the best bday gift Putin will receive this year, his bday is tomorrow.

The Kurds have spared us hundreds of billions of dollars and thousands of dead and broken bodies in the last three wars in the region by acting as our light attack force.

If we do abandon them it will be a black mark on the US forever.

More importantly, if we do that and they suffer grievous losses and decide to repay us in kind by turning against us as yet another Islamic Terrorist organization we will have earned what follows.

Worst of all it will simply make it astronomically harder for the US to ever enlist the help of indigenous forces in the future.

The only reason why Turkey is moving into Northern Syria is to remove the Kurdish stronghold on their border, the creation of a Kurdish state would be the single worse thing that could happen to Turkey.

That’s completely ridiculous.

The smartest thing Turkey could do is support an independent Kurdistan and expel all of the Kurds from Turkey into it.

Yes that would be best for the world, but Turkey views them as enemies and giving them a international recognized state is a failure.

plus there is the thing that Kurd traditional land over lap the Turkish/Syria border and they could be incline to reclaim them in the future and giving them their own state allow them to militarize without threat.

Hence why Turkey has been very upset about Western aid to the Kurd in Northern Syria for the past few years.

Turkey has been our least reliable ally for decades and the Kurds our Most reliable ally.

Edogon is pro Islamasation and we should be finding ways to contian him, remove him, and support an independent Kurdistan.

We traditionally needed Turkey as a cold war ally and buffer against the Soviets. An independent Kurdistan would accomplish the same and more.

This is one area where I hope our CIA and British Intel are working towards that goal together.

If the Turks go beyond securing their own internal interests and targeting ISIS/AQ we need to step back in and set up a permanent buffer between them. If Trump fails to so so it will be a huge stain on his presidency.

Agreed, I very much like the Kurd they deserve their own homeland.

It isn’t about like or dislike, we owe them for their unfailing support and their huge sacrifices to aid us.

Tell that to Trump.

I have been since he took office, he isn’t listening.

Yep. Abandoned. One can get all pedantic about it, but as pointed out Turkey views the YPG as terrorists and by invading Syria and moving into Kurdish areas it hard to see that as some sort of goodwill gesture on the part of Turkey. All this is happening with the blessing of Trump.

It should be noted the Kurds in Syria detained over 10,000 ISIS fighters and have them imprisoned. No doubt Erdogan has some interest in letting some at least a portion of that contingent run free.

It should also be noted this is all follow-on effects of bad policy starting with the Iraq war under Bush. The entire region is a mess and the beacon of freedom or whatever Iraq was supposed to be post Saddam is splitting at the seams as the government machine guns protestors en masse.

So just to be clear here no matter what Trump does or what happens as a result he is wrong. Correct?

This article makes the matter clearer.

Given that the Kurds have been America’ s most constant allies in the region: in Iraq War 1, in Iraq War 2 – especially the surge-period stabilization of Iraq and the fight against ISIS in Syria, what does America gain form this policy shift?

It makes the United.States look weak and fickle, and very much under the sway of yet another dictator – Erdogan – a man who is moving Turkey in the direction fo Islamic fundamentalism.

No. Trump’s move to ban bump stocks was absolutely the correct thing to do.

We have to look at each policy on its own merits regardless of who sits in the Oval Office. If you believe this is a good policy. I’ve stated separately why this makes the United States look weak and inconstant and makes us less effective in fighting terrorism – hence a bad decision.

What the hell have bumpstocks got to do with Trump policy towards the Kurds exactly?

Personally…I believe the President should do something. I don’t know enough about this but the Kurds helped us and in return, they should not be abandoned by us. Turkey is our NATO ally so we are stuck some what between a rock and a hard place. Why…is Turkey desiring to attack the Kurds?
