The true age of mankind

Yeah we could have done without them.

In south Florida they’re called Palmetto bugs.

And great food source it you’re extremely desperate.

There is a place in Washington state called the Dry Falls.

When North America ice sheet melted and damned up, and when it busted it released so much water it curves out this in matter of minutes.

Something like more fresh water then all the rivers in the world combines came rushing through.

Wonder how much it raise the seas levels? Must be at least couple inches.

biblically, Adam the man and Adam (mankind) were created on different dates. Ha ADM and Ha eth ADM in the original language. one is personal and one is impersonal. these distinctions which are clear in the Original are completely lost in the english translations. The “days” of creation are aeons of creation in the version of the OT that Christ and the apostles used. Mankind was created on the sixth “day” and the man Adam implicitly was created on the eighth. Between line one and two of the creation verses there is an additional translation problem that makes it appear these events were contiguous with the rest of the verses when a better translation would leave open the question of the age of the world and the universe at large.

the fact that mankind predated Adam solves any number of problems with the english version of events.

the prophets speak of the world being created aeons ago perfect and fit to be inhabited. specifically it was not made void and without form. these passages use the exact same words as in the genesis verse about the earth being void and without form.

it is not a contradiction IF the mistranslation of the word “was” is stricken and the other translation possible “became, to become, etc” is inserted/substituted.

the earth was created perfect and fit to be inhabited.
The earth was destroyed; void and without form.
God begins to renew the earth.

TLDR; there is no good reason to suppose that when both are properly understood; the bible and science must contradict each other. Not on creation. Not on evolution. not on anything.

There is good scientific evidence that modern human kind has been around perhaps hundreds of thousands of years. there is good linguistic evidence that the bible does not necessarily contradict that nor the generally accepted age of the planet and the universe at large.

As to the flood; there is no evidence that the entire world was flooded in Noah’s time. There is evidence of a regional flood which would have served the purpose of the flood without destroying the whole world biosphere.
The translation is the problem with it. the hebrew word in question has many meanings including dirt, region kingdom, the known world, and others. the flood was meant to preserve the Savior’s bloodline and spiritual purity and preserve the integrity of the messianic prophesies. That does not require a world wide flood. In addition a world wide flood makes the whole narrative preposterous for numerous physical reasons; from the logistics of getting representatives of all species in the world there despite insurmountable geographical barriers, to time available to load the boat once they get there, to feeding the carnivores, to feeding species with specific dietary requirements such as pandas…

Noah’s flood was not a world flood. But…

The bible also supports that there was another flood called the overthrow or “Katobol” that was a world flood and did kill everything but it was not Noah’s flood and it happened before humankind was even created. it is why the world was void and without form in line two of the genesis creation narrative.

Well, we know Noah’s flood, as described in the Bible, didn’t happen. Egypt’s dynastic history, which covers the time period of the alleged flood, is continuous which would be impossible had it been wiped out by a flood.

Plus the complete impossibility of building a boat that size.

The flood as taught from the Bible is incorrect, because the timeline is wrong. The Flood happened long before the Dynastic Egyptians, Sumerians, and even at least a thousand years before Gobekli Tepe was built.

The Flood was the end of the last Ice Age.

We agree that the flood as taught from the Bible is incorrect. I’m sure there were local floods

Well depends on what genus of ■■■■ we are considering a part of “us.”

If we include them all since the great separation (ape and ■■■■) then we are several millions years old. If we are only including anatomically modern ■■■■ sapians then we go back 300-400,000 years.

There were definitely local floods, many in fact. One such event being the tsunami that wiped out Crete when a not so distant volcano erupted.

The Flood that occurred ~13,000 YBP is the one referred to in the Bible and the Sumerian accounts of the Deluge. It is also the Flood referred to by the Vulture Stone in Gobekli Tepe, described as a catastrophe of fire and flood that all but annihilated mankind.

I allow for the relationship between time and physical process to be nonlinear. Thus, in my universe, the half life of isotopes, for example, is a function of time itself.
I am not even sure what time means to God. We have a tick tock clock that is calibrated by physical processes. So right now the two… time and physical processes such as the frequency (inverse of temporal period) of an emission caused by a state transition within an atom always have the same relationship. Why would that necessarily be true in a universe ?

I’m guessing it involved roaches.

We don’t know what laws of physics were true and what wasn’t at the moment of the Big Bang. It’s a great mystery.
