I am not one to make fun of typos cuz i make them all the time but interferesting is my new word of the day.
1099s technically pay taxes. But this is all absolutely silly semantics. They go to the state/feds full stop. So you are right.

Unless you are making peanuts, you’re supposed to pay them quarterly.
Good thing I don’t know who you are or where you live … there is a reward for turning in tax cheats.

Really you wait to pay your federal taxes at end of year, no taxes are taken out like SS, Medicare?

Most likely because, as everyone here suspects, you are all having taxes withheld from your paychecks.
The IRS rule is that if you are not having taxes withheld per pay period and you expect to owe more than $1,000 in taxes annually (that’s earning roughly $5,000 in self-employment income), then you are required to pay estimated taxes quarterly.

I wonder . . . by how much would that number change if lawsuits could be filed against the Dept of Education just like the ones filed against the Boy Scouts and the Catholic Church.

I would have never sent my kids to private Christian schools if they took government money. Taking $ means you are beholden, same as churches that get the 501c3 tax break.
