Yes, Safiel, you do stand by your previous posts. But in those posts, you offer unsubstantiated opinion with regard to the Hylton case and the meaning of direct vs indirect taxes, and your opinion seems to be in conflict with the documented facts I posted HERE and especially HERE.

Since you do stand by your previous posts which contain “opinion” unsupported by documented facts, perhaps you would share with me, and those interested, the evidence which encouraged you to arrive at your opinions. It certainly would be productive to establish the meaning of “direct tax”, within the meaning of our Constitution since our Constitution emphatically commands:

"Representatives and direct Taxes shall be apportioned among the several States . . . "

and

“No Capitation, or other direct, Tax shall be laid, unless in Proportion to the Census or Enumeration herein before directed to be taken.”
