The democrats are depleting it to try to get prices down a little for the mid-terms. AS SOON as the mid-terms are over they will stop selling out of it.
So, the little decrease in prices of gas right now will end, & it will not only go back over $4.00 it will go higher, probably much higher.
Don’t be fooled by their shenanigans, they still have the same have inflationary policies & worse is coming… They WANT this!
The democrats caused this inflation, & will continue to do so as soon as the mid-terms are over.

Plus gas prices go down naturally after Labor Day

The drop in prices seems to be mostly a drop in demand, School starting is part of it, but so is limited discretionary income. There are a lot of folks out there that have been running up credit cards to cover basics. People tend to drive less, and spend less, when money gets tight.

Plus, gas prices typically go down after Labor Day…demand going down at the end of summer vacation season

Well, keeping prices low is one part of what the SPR is there for. That is one part of why we have it. That said:
- What you have posted is true
- Joe Biden is trying to buy the election

So…the prices going down has nothing to do with the selling of the SOR?

Oh, no. Not at all. It is just another factor.
Don’t take my word for it. Do your research.

The summer travel season is already over, due to school beginning in a lot of places in mid August. My two youngest are starting their third week of this school year. Add to that shifting oil supply chains. The Russians are selling their oil at a $20 discount to the market to bypass sanctions. There are plenty of major buyers out there willing to purchase it at that price. That means the buyers dropped other suppliers in favor of the discount, and that dropped oil is now available to others, being fungible. Then factor in folks hitting their credit limits and tightening the belt, something we will see more of between now and the election. And after all that add in SOR releases.

One more reason to vote Trump.
He fills emergency reserve.
Biden uses it for political gain.

In what situations should we tap into the SOR?

To properly answer that question one has to define the purpose of the reserve. Is it a national defense strategic reserve. Is it a national economic strategic reserve. Or is it a partisan political strategic reserve.

Yeah he totally didn’t put his name on two budgets requiring sales from the oil reserves.

The concept of emergency means completely different things to Trump and Brandon.
Brandon is still in a political emergency.
Didn’t help supply and now the reserves are drained while China toys with Taiwan.
EverythAng Biden touches…

It was in a budget. They weren’t emergency sales. You don’t even know
That’s why it’s so easy to say that he was great at everything.

This makes sense. Is there any one single definition?
If the President has total control over when to release it then I suspect for whoever is in the WH it is a mixture of them all.
Regardless of the reasons for the huge price hike in gas will not the average consumer be thankful for the release of gas supplies which has lowered prices?

Genuine question. what does the China/Taiwan situation have to do with this?

The strategic reserve releases didn’t amount to enough oil to cause the current price dip. While they may account for a few cents overall, dropping demand is the bigger factor. But you can expect the WH to claim full credit.
