That is a singular borough of The city.
The city is more than Manhattan

Blame Ingalls. Most of your tax dollars pour into Ingalls Shipbiilding here for new Naval Destroyers.
First off, I absolutely respect what Marco Rubio had to say over just about anyone else in the Congress. You guys all loved Rubio when he was part of the so-called “gang of eight.” Second I don’t give a ■■■■ who endorses it, I’m aware of the various aspects in the bill, and the more I hear and read about it the more it sucks.
Not if they are going to need welfare. Furthermore, we already have issues with housing, and flooding the country with 2 million more welfare recipients each year will just make that situation worse.

Well, with a nearly trillion dollar defense budget…you are probably right.

According to a Cato Institute update of a National Academy of Sciences report, immigrants generate, in inflation‐adjusted terms, nearly $1 trillion in state, local, and federal taxes, which is almost $300 billion more than they receive in government benefits, including cash assistance, entitlements, and public …Sep 13, 2023
According to USAFacts, the industries that employ the most immigrant workers are:
Educational and health services, which employ 18.2% of foreign-born employees in the US in 2022
Professional and business services, which employ 15.2% of foreign-born employees in 2022
Construction, which employs 11.7% of foreign-born employees in 2022
Other low-skill occupations that have high shares of immigrant workers include:
Home health aides (24%)
Personal care aides (23%)
More than 60 percent of all iron and rebar workers
More than 30 percent of helpers to brickmasons, carpenters and pipelayers

I have never been a fan of Rubio.
You are probably reading the border bill with such a large bias…it clouds your perception.
On very complex things, that i do not have a lot of knowledge of, the last thing I would do is trust a Pol.
I don’t care if its Rubio, Biden, McConnel or Sanders.
The people working on the border, endorse the bill. That says enough for me…as they would know better than Rubio.
From the interview:
“So, that was in that bill. The restriction on it was something called the ‘convention of torture,’ which means that you can only give [asylum] to people under that international treaty [against torture]. Well, the way it’s been defined is, you can basically not deport anyone to any country where criminal gangs kidnap people, kill people, extort people, and harm people. That’s like, 105 countries in the world. That’s a huge loophole. It was right in the [bill]. It was a tricky way to achieve what they’ve always wanted. How does that make the system better? It makes it far worse than what it is today.”

One man who oversees the people working on the border endorses the bill. The actual border patrol agents have not been asked. Makes a person wonder why?

WuWei:
The cost to end world hunger ranges from $7B to $265B. That’s world hunger.
The cost to end it in the US is estimated at $25B. That’s outrageously high, but fine.
How much has been pissed away in Ukraine again?
I keep saying we have more than enough money to both defend this nation and feed everyone living here.
Everyone.

It’s the simple truth for most red states. Most red states are the sites of either huge defense contractors or supremely large military bases. So the federal money comes flowing in year round because of either.
For Mississippi, we have Ingalls. And they are the largest naval contractor of conventionally powered ships in the United States. They have built some nuclear vessels in the past, but conventional power (usually turbine related) is the speciality. Most of the Navy’s conventional ships currently in service were build here. Almost all the Arleigh Burkes and Ticonderoga ships were built here by Mississippi hands. We also get foreign orders too. We built some of Japan’s ships.
If you look at Wyoming you’ll see Warren Air Force base. One of the largest in the world. They house the 90th missiler division there and nearly a third of American ICBMs. That’s a ton of upkeep and maintenance. Which the Feds pay. The state loves it because of all the spin off supply industries that make a living from it being there. The amount of food they order from the local businesses must be insane for example.
Red States don’t really get “welfare” like commonly assumed. They lobbied for both military bases and defense contractors because it’s guaranteed easy money. We also fought to steal private sector companies from northern states. There’s a reason Toyota, Nissan, Hyundai, BMW, and Mercedes all chose us for huge auto plants. Cheaper labor and we offered them tax incentives that northern states wouldn’t match.

My side? I don’t trust those idiots anymore than trust the right wing lunatics. Both are equally bad.
I do support the welfare state, but I want it reformed. And I believe that most localities could and should pay for it themselves if they quit letting their local politicians buy new speed boats and sports cars with skimmed money.
As for Ukraine, we need to start cutting down support. They tried, we tried. Once again we backed a side that was for sure going to lose long term. There is no future in which they win a total victory over Russia. They are going to have to go for broke at the negotiating table. But we can’t keep just throwing money and equipment at them. Because facts are they’re going to lose the war. My personal cut off date was the spring offensive. When that basically didn’t materialize I threw my hands up and said ■■■■■ it they can’t win.”
Sorry that was meant for Guilds

Spending money to stop an anti-democracy dictator that invaded a democratic country in western Europe is not pissing money away.
Why do so many cons appear to support Putin?
Ah. That’s understandable.
The city is doing that from industry, mainly tech not by all the illegals they are net drain. Any country wanting to better itself or have a 1st world safety net like in parts of Europe would have a skills-merit based immigration system like Australia. Instead the democratic party is bringing in the worlds poor just to try and turn states perma blue, it’s a detriment to the economy at these record numbers and a insult to taxpayers who have paid in their whole life, watching their tax dollars go to illegal pre paid visas and healthcare.
Your side had a place when it was based on trying to improve the safety net, healthcare, and the home of the working man. Now it’s just foreign wars, coddle to the tech elite and letting in millions of illegals each year who don’t even speak english. There wanting to send a 100 billion dollars for people to kill each other at a time when the federal reserve is saying we are running in the danger zone on debt.

Nothing wrong with it from a morality standpoint.
But there eventually comes a point where everyone has to realize that continuing to throw money at the problem won’t change anything.
And we have reached that point in Ukraine. They cannot win a total victory over Russia now. Their previous promised offensive never even materialized. And they are losing the attrition war in the defended eastern cities badly.
They’re drafting 60 year olds to fight at this point. They cannot win. But they may be able to scrounge a decent peace out of the negotiating table.
Basically we have to stop acting like the Russians are going to collapse tomorrow. It’s not going to happen. They weathered their initial terrible storm and even the sanctions with their state intact. The Russian military has learned some good lessons and while still being a ■■■■ show, they are performing dramatically better than they were even a year ago.
The goal should now be for Ukraine to send some feelers to the Russians for a half ass decent peace. Because that’s the best they’ll get right now. Or they can continue to sacrifice the population at the alter of attrition. Either way Lockheed and Raytheon get their money.
Whether we like it or not we have to talk to the Russians at some point. We can argue about them being a criminal nation till we are blue in the face. But they do exist, they are a sovereign state, and they currently have Ukraine on the attrition front. Aka let’s stop acting like our ■■■■ doesn’t stink and actually talk to them.
