The rules for the upcoming Democratic Presidential debate

Next month will be the first Democratic Presidential debate. It will occur on June 26th and June 27th in Miami. The DNC issued the following rules to qualify:

There can only be up to 20 candidates eligible. So far we have 18 candidates qualifying.
A qualifying candidate must either (a) register at least 1% in three Democratic-approval polls. Those polls could mean nationally, or in the early primary states of Iowa, NH, South Carolina, and Nevada. Or (b) Must received at least 65,000 individual donors with a minimum of 200 donors in at least 20 states.
Unlike the GOP debates of 2015 and 2016, there will be no senior and junior debates. They will be in two groups, but it will not be based on how well they polled. My guess is that Biden and Sanders will be on different nights.

They should really turn the first part of the primaries into a hybrid March Madness / Wild Cup type of tournament. Seeded based on national polls with 1 on 1 debates with each round with voting on each winner after every debate on the official DNC voter app, available on the Apple and Play Store. Once you get to the elite 8 turn it into group play with 4 in each group debating each other with the top 2 making the final debate group with 3 final debates leading up to the primaries.
