You are out of luck.

Logically if there was any benefit it would have been observed after a year.

Which the two studies that I posted concluded.

I think the key was to not get too worked up about Covid, either way.

Like 80% of the population was able to do that from the beginning, while the other 20% on the margins have been screaming at each other like psychos about it, even now. You’re a nazi. Well you’re anti-science. Well you’re a sheep. Well you’re selfish. Well you’re a Marxist.

The damn poll shows nobody gives a ■■■■ about it anymore yet here we are whining to each other on the internet about it, still.

Conclusion doesn’t begin with a hedge word… likely.

You certainly don’t make policy with it.

I was patient with the hysterical reaction knowing that it would prove to be wrong.

The masking was wrong.

The CDC was wrong.

Many of our strident posters here were wrong.

Response should have been consistent with every other recent flu.

…and then there are credible studies that totally disagree and label mask wearing as, “useless”.

MSN.

To briefly summarize, the Cochrane study conducted by Oxford University epidemiologist Tom Jefferson and colleagues, is a meta-analysis covering dozens of studies covering several years of data on masking, and concluded that, as Jefferson put it in an interview with Maryanne Demasi, “there is just no evidence that they make any difference. Full stop.”

One study, that itself admits it does not conclude anything, but rather suggests more study is needed.

Here is another study concluding masks are effective.

Understanding the links between face mask use and Covid-19 is crucial since the effectiveness of masks has been widely debated and contested among the general public. Our panel econometric exercise demonstrates that the wearing of face masks is negatively associated with infections and fatalities at the country level.

…carry on my friend.

That said, IMHO…an N95 mask logically will reduce contaminated particles coming from an infected mouth whether in or out.

Of course! It’s common sense.

Masks , when used properly can and do prevent some airborne pathogens.

Key words “used properly”.

People in the general public do not mask properly. Shoving a mask in your pocket or purse and reusing it is not effective in preventing the spread of harmful pathogens.

Now…are you ready for the other side of that coin? The damage done mandating this exceeds the gain from loss of spread…again…IMO. When it was mandated, I saw the damage being done mentally causing stress and anxiety to the people around me. It was so obvious that I wrote a letter to the Governor of my state…something I’ve NEVER done in my life…explaining this opinion to him. Now here we are years later and my conclusion was spot on.

What’s the calculation? How much stress and anxiety is one life saved by mitigation worth?

Also - how about the stress and anxiety caused by living in a pandemic is which no mitigation is happening?

Let me put it to you this way, it won’t happen again as long as I am in control of my l’il world.

N95 masks maybe. But the polyester cool temperature masks everyone was wearing didn’t do anything to stop the spread. It’s amazing people think that it did. Most people were wearing what amounts to their shirts over their face. It’s almost comical to think that saved lives.

That’s the bottom line. When the virus first showed up, everyone thought that Fauci was the foremost expert on viral infections in the world so everyone heeded his words including the CDC and Trump. But as Fauci kept changing his story and leaving Trump out to dry still repeating the previous Fauci line (making Trump look foolish for repeating the old line) it didn’t take Trump or many of the rest of us to realize Fauci was full of ■■■■■ And then, subsequently, it was discovered that Fauci was complicit in the creation if the virus in the first place. The sad part is, now the CDC has little credibility left and so many people are rejecting all infectious disease advice they put forth.

I hope you know that charlatans like Fauci are the primary reason for that.

You’ve been duped for ratings and votes.

The duping is all on you.

I bet you still wear a mask to signal your virtue, don’t you.

Why would I do that? Community transmission is very low.

I do if I’m feeling unwell though. Never did before the pandemic, but seems like the courteous thing to do to try to infect co-workers and people around me.

You had me at hello. :sunglasses: :tumbler_glass:

Yeah … virtue signaling.
