The rise of Trump and the corresponding death of the conservative movement

How about a republican in California, New York or Washington?

Did the elections show more Republicans voted (overall) into the legislature, but the Democrats got into power anyway in those states?

There’s a difference between losing an election and having it cheated away from you.

Does a republican have a voice in any of those states?

How do they have zero representation?

Because their legislature does not listen to their concerns. I live in Michigan. Our Republicans have no concern for anyone other than their special interest groups.

And why should they, they’re not going to be voted out. The last election, they lost by five percent and they still won the election due to gerrymandering.

The same is true of the 3 states I mentioned. The way ranchers are treated in Oregon is another example.

I didn’t realize that republicans were so popular in these left-leaning states. They’re winning the majority of the vote in theses elections but not achieving representation?

They need to implement as independent redistricting commission outside of the legislature then.

It is a republic, not a democracy.

SMH, a republic is a specific form of democracy.

No, it is not.

Yes, it is. You’re confusing it with Direct Democracy.

I understand that’s what you were taught and I’m sorry I can’t change that.

Okay, what is a republic?

The sovereignty lies with the people, not the mob nor the ruling class. The rights are individual. Each one matters.

Freedom from. Not liberty to.

If it’s like Western style Liberalism it’s happening in Los Angeles and San Francisco.

No. It’s like individualism.

Your description of a republic sounds more like how society regards the rights of the individual rather than how its voting works.

I have no idea what your post is trying to say.

In a republic, how society “regards the rights of the individual” is completely irrelevant. They are rights.

Do you want to vote on rights?

I was trying to slip in some Trump wisdom. Putin was talking about western democracy, Trump answered with political talking points.
