As many have said here, Trump is merely the result of the Republicans straying from Conservative values, the result of a political war that has been raging for as long as I can remember. I wanted Ted Cruz, Ben Carson, or Carly Fiorina as the nominee.

But if no one else runs in the 2020 election, that is when Conservatism will be dead. Either Trump will be re-elected and continue to cause terror as the face of the Republicans, or the extreme left will be elected, and political values on all sides will change- the pendulum will swing back to Socialism.

Didn’t take you for a Bircher, just a misguided Trump supporter.

Which parts of McManus’ schooling do you most agree with?

Ironically whether Trump intended or not…he has governed closer to a true Conservative then any president in my lifetime.

Food for thought.

It really is. You should stop bothering to respond, or let someone else take over.

You dont know what conservativism then

Lol - yeah, sure. Just take a look at the deficit and all the government interference in business these days. Tariffs, subsidies, trying to order businesses where they can build there plants. And that’s before we even get to “we need to take the guns first and ask questions later.”

No thanks. Not the kind of bloated authoritarian government I want.

I’ve had the dubious pleasure of experiencing Bill Buckley gaze at me down the length of his nose, sizing me up, when I met him. Needless to say, his arrogance, his imperiousness, was at least accompanied up by an intellect worthy of respect.

Not so in the age of Trump. There is conservatism and there is Trumpism. Trumpism is emotional. It’s driven by fear and resentment and instinct.

I know Buckley had a reputation for looking down his nose at people, but, to be honest, he had little choice in my case. I was about 12 years old. He seemed quite tall.

Yeah its a healthier choice for sure. Plus I don’t beat up the inside of my car anymore

He was obviously talking about social conservatism. Trump is a bastion of Christian family values

Then name one that governed closer to real conservative in your lifetime.

Should be easy one for since you claim to be a conservative before you turn lib.

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Oh yeah. 3 marriages, affairs all over the place, paying off porn stars, bragging about grabbing women by the ■■■■■■ A virtual fountain of virtue. Who could be holier than Saint Donnie?

Does that food come out of a garbage can? If you think Trump governs as a true conservative then perhaps you need to re-examine what your definition of conservative really is.

Nixon gave us, “If the President does it, that means it’s legal.”

Trumpism gives us, “If Trump does it, that means it’s conservative.”

And here I thought libs were masters of English language.

I guess I was wrong.

I hope understanding your posts isn’t the test.
