Those who are intellectually honest will freely admit this as such. A good analogy would be to imagine a country that was governed by a Theocracy, those committed to Christianity would want a very different country than those committed to Islam. The fact is that when one considers so many of the major issues like Immigration, Abortion, Education, 2nd Amendment, Policing, Crime, Welfare, Healthcare, etc., etc., the philosophical differences regarding governing are wide and largely irreconcilable. If you take an honest look at each topic one by one, it becomes very evident. Let’s first consider immigration and border security.
@WuWei asked why is it the two parties cannot come to the same conclusions when it comes to this issue? Regarding immigration laws Conservatives/Republicans would reduce the current numbers by implementing a very strict Merit based system that would only take in people who would get jobs that would ensure they would not need public assistance and would have a genuine economic shot at the so-called American dream. We don’t care if low-wage dead end jobs go unfilled and are fine with those jobs going the way of the dinosaur and prompting businesses to invest in technology to compensate which in turn would create better paying jobs. Regarding other types of low wage jobs which tech cannot easily replace, and we cannot find enough American workers to fill, we can simply modify EXISTING immigration laws that govern seasonal and temporary visas. Develop partnerships with neighboring countries to facilitate this using six month rotations in which the workers are paid US wages but then go back to their countries afterwards where the cost of living is SUBSTATIALLY lower. That then would be a win-win for both countries.
Regarding the type if immigration that Dems want, the fact is that they are largely fine with how Harris, Biden and Mayorkas have been handling the border and have defended policies that have created situations like this:
The only other argument they go to is the absolutely atrocious phony bipartisan bill from just three senators, only one being Republican:
Another component of immigration in which there’s widespread disagreement would be Asylum. The historical roots of asylum stem from the atrocities of WW2 in which the Jewish people were being persecuted and killed based on their race/religion. That’s not what’s going on today. Today asylum is largely a joke and is used by people all over the world who are largely economic migrants to obtain a foothold in countries that offer generous forms of welfare. During the nearly four years of Harris/Biden we have seen people from ALL over the world from around 160-180 countries traveling miles bypassing country after country to come to the US Mexico border. The so-called phony border bill did NOTHING to address this reality. HR2 actually did, which is why it is a true border security bill. Democrats wanted NOTHING to do with HR2.
Please feel free to discuss ANY of the other issues mentioned here as well.
