Just 24 hours after congressional Democrats took control of the House of Representatives one left-wing lawmaker is already introducing legislation that could entirely “eliminate” the Electoral College.
Congressman Steve Cohen of Tennessee unveiled the proposal on his official website Friday, saying the legislation would “eliminate the Electoral College and provide for the direct election of the President and Vice President of the United States.”
“In two presidential elections since 2000, including the most recent one in which Hillary Clinton won 2.8 million more votes than her opponent, the winner of the popular vote did not win the election because of the distorting effect of the outdated Electoral College. Americans expect and deserve the winner of the popular vote to win office. More than a century ago, we amended our Constitution to provide for the direct election of U.S. Senators. It is past time to directly elect our President and Vice President,” said the statement.

All it will take to get it passed is the approval of the people of many of the states that the electoral college was included in the Constitution to protect from dominance of the larger states.
I wonder how long rule by the minority will be tolerated in this country before The People revolt.
In the House - Republicans have about an 8-point structural advantage.
In the Senate - Republicans have about an 8-seat advantage.
In the Presidency - Republicans are spotted a 3 million vote advantage, as of 2016.
It will come to a head.

The Constitution is the source of the legitimacy of the US as a nation. That Constitution can be amended where the rules for amending are followed. Otherwise, the method would consist of overthrowing this country and establishing another by force.
Such drama!! Let’s follow our President’s lead, and discuss “2nd Amendment solutions” to problems, such as the one he was then contemplating: that he didn’t win the election.
But, I’m all for first trying the amendment process.

Fine. I’m all for not making that amendment.
If you want to use the 2nd amendment solutions of lobbying like the NRA does, thats fine too.
I don’t think The People will stand forever for their votes for President not counting. It’s bad enough that the Congress doesn’t represent the voter, in one-man, one-vote fashion.

Enhh. So far we have two years of whining. That’s what the losing group does in this country.
To your point, I’ve heard a WHOLE lot of whining on Our Esteemed Host’s show all last year.
When I’ve listened to Rachel Maddow, she’s reading verbatim, at length, from various court filings. It’s been an interesting contrast.
Here’s to 2019 and what it will bring.
