House Budget Chairman John Yarmuth has officially asked the Congressional Budget Office to estimate the total cost of a new, “single payer healthcare” program throughout the United States; signaling the Democratic Party’s renewed push for the massive federal entitlement.

“Members of Congress developing proposals seeking to establish a single-payer system will face many important decisions that could have major implications for federal spending, national healthcare spending, and access to care,” said Yarmuth in a letter submitted to the CBO.

The ACA made it possible for millions to gain health insurance for the first time. But there are still too many Americans who cannot afford their health care costs.
