Both sides have flip flopped because the situation has flip flopped.

Nowhere in the constitution is it stated that the American Citizen decides who is on the Supreme Court. The President nominates a candidate, and the Senate vets them and either allows or disallows the choice.

Pelosi, appearing in an interview with ABC News Chief Anchor George Stephanopoulos, would not rule out launching impeachment proceedings in order to block the Senate from confirming a nominee from President Donald Trump.

“We have arrows in our quiver!”

Were you awake in 2016? That’s the exact rationale Mitch used, in the Constitution or not.

Fun Fact:
FDR tried to pack the court during his tenure as President by increasing the number of Justices, as it is, He appointed 7 new Justices while he was President.

And he was properly smacked down for it, too.

Both sides of both chambers of Congress are hypocrites and liars.

They just speak alternative truth.

They speak to alternative audiences. There is no truth in their speech.

I was, and I didn’t agree with his rationale back then. What I don’t get is why you people keep these asshats like Mcconnell and Pelosi in office. But hey, you get the Government you deserve.

I definitely don’t like the calls to “burn it down” because you aren’t getting your way.

I don’t think both sides have flip flopped. Obama had the duty to nominate a Supreme Court pick. He did that and the republicans refused to give him a vote. Now, dems are holding them accountable to the standard they set.

Except when Obama was in his last year.

He didn’t have a Democrat Senate…sorry. :sunglasses:

He should quote RBG verbatim

Different guy different reason. RBG said the a president was elected for four years not three.

I must have missed that section in the Constitution.

Oh it’s the same reason. The republicans wouldn’t even allow a well qualified nominee an interview let alone a vote. They did so on party lines because they hated Obama. Now they are changing the rules again because it favors their agenda. Seems they have forgotten the rule that what goes around come around.

Ah okay. I recall McConnell and everyone else talking about that at the time. Oh thats right thats the story now to justify hypocrisy.

But thats okay, Trump has made it cool for people not to have honor.

“Honor” in politics? Did you just suggest that? :flushed: Now that…is…funny.
