The Pendulum Will Swing

I know harry reid probably regrets the nuclear option about right now. But yeah we should take the mistake liberals did and learn from it.

“Take the guns first, go through due process second.”

Isn’t Trump asking for funds for new sections of not yet approved wall?

Didn’t previous legislation provide funds for repairing/replacing existing wall?

Was there more wall that had been approved that didn’t get built? That last question referring to 600+ miles of barriers approved and built between the Bush/Obama years?

Mic drop.

That is the worst argument ever.

Just because they voted for something before doesn’t bind them to the here and now. AOC points out previous tax rates to justify raising them now. If I use the above logic that would make sense. Does that make sense?

Yeah. And if he sets this precedent it will be all the more simple for declaring our mass shootings an epidemic and national emergency.

None of his supporters are thinking this through. They wanted a win, they are awestruck by trump’s celebrity, and they have no will to admit they have made a tremendous mistake.

I think your forgetting a little thing called the second amendment.

I believe that you are confusing DACA with DAPA. DAPA was never implemented since it was blocked by the courts.

What “precedent” exactly is he setting. Here’s a current list of active “National Emergencies”.

Here’s a list of the 28 active national emergencies:

  1. Blocking Iranian Government Property (Nov. 14, 1979)

  2. Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction (Nov. 14, 1994)

  3. Prohibiting Transactions with Terrorists Who Threaten to Disrupt the Middle East Peace Process (Jan. 23, 1995)

You’re right about one thing, the pendulum has swung back. The difference is that Trump is now president.

The money was approved, “Secure Fences Act” but then they never completed the project failing to appropriate all of the money.

Existing law gives the POTUS the ability to use existing funds and use the military for construction work should he declare an emergency without waiting on congressional appropriations.

The difference is that none of those are made up.

Two questions:

Why didn’t your boy spend all the money appropriated for border security?

And:

Why didn’t he have Mexico pay for his precious wall when he had the majority?

Answer those without the typical deflection and goal post movements and I’ll be impressed.

The project was amended by later legislation and the new goals were funded and achieved.

Aren’t those funding options limited to existing DoD funded construction projects?

No, they can use funds already sitting in existing accounts not already earmarked for specific programs.

None of this is made up either.

Are US citizens and legal resident aliens victims of crimes committed by illegals? Yes.

Are US citizens and LRA’s victimized by illegal drugs trafficked across our southern border? Yes.

Are the costs to the US taxpayers running into more than a hundred billion annually? Yes.

Has the surge in UAM’s and Families overwhelmed ICE and HS? Yes.

Are we creating a backlog of years more of cases for the long overwhelmed immigration courts? Yes.

Does this have a huge effect on the US economy as a whole? Hell yes.

Is congress unwilling or unable to pass legislation expeditiously that addresses all of these concerns? No.

Like it or not, this certainly meets the criteria required under the National Emergencies Acts and is completely within the purview of the President to do.

What would a wall do to fix any of those problems? It sounds like we need more agents, judges and equipment.

You’re suggesting that accounts have been set and funded for no designated purpose.

That doesn’t sound right.

The accounts are set up for departments and agencies and there’s always unspent money particularly in Pentagon Accounts due to contracts that get canceled, programs that get cancelled or delayed, contracts that come in under the projected costs etc.

Johnson did it to fund his Great Society, Nixon, Carter, Reagan, Bush, and Clinton as well to fund various policy initiatives.

That’s been explained many times.

Until we cut the flow to a trickle no matter how many agents, judges, “equipment” we have we’re not going to solve the problem.

The first step to solving any of these issues is to make it as difficult as is practical for them to cross the border in the first place. The second is to stop those that still do from penetrating beyond 50 miles.

There are 800,000 plus backlogged immigration cases, piling more on just makes it even more difficult to even imagine ever getting caught up particularly since 80-90% will never even show up to defend their initial claims.

Once they’ve been released into the interior they are rarely seen again by immigration officials unless they commit another crime in a jurisdiction that isn’t harboring the illegals and refusing to cooperate in their removal.
