How is racism involved?

The voters are over 90 percent white in those states but the democratic party is far more diverse. White voters make up less than 60 percent of the Democratic party.

Maybe minorities are just racist against the white people in those states.

Hmmm. Mostly I think because those two states (Iowa and NH) are primarily rural and people of color tend to live in cities. Mainly because there are more opportunities.

The Democratic primaries start in Iowa and New Hampshire. This is an artifact from the 70’s when these two states jumped the line to start the primaries.

But as the US has become increasingly diverse it looks really out of touch to have two states that are over 90 percent white strongly affect the election of a Democratic candidate.

Those states aren’t “racist” but the primary system that allows these two states to start the election disenfranchises minority voters and would be an example of systematic or institutional racism. At least in my opinion.
