Well it is a state issue now. So technically the Repubs can back off of federal solutions.

The Texas Republican platform is cooler.

Repeal 16th and 17th amendments.
Modify 14th to exclude anchor babies.
Retain right to secede from the US.
Nullify federal laws not consistent with 10th amendment.
Allow currency of choice, including gold or silver.
Make bibles and prayer available in schools.
Abolish list of federal departments (most of them).

And perhaps the neatest, in order to hold a statewide office one must not only win a majority of votes but also a majority of counties. Since Democrats are concentrated in a few big cities, this would essentially bar Democrats from statewide offices.

Nah. Celebrities at conventions are an exception.
