The no spin truth about Russian "meddling."

I don’t know anything about you other than the means which you communicate on this board.

Which I find underwhelming.

Did you ever figure out what gives you the “right” to the information Russia stole?

I may be underwhelming, but I seem to be enough to capture your attention. But enough about me, lets talk about you for a while. Shall we?

Maybe not a “right” by the strict interpretation of the word, but it is information that is helpful to Americans when making a decision. If a Presidential candidate is involved in a cover up, destroying communications devices with a hammer, hiding government info on an illegal private server or destroying 33,000 government owned emails with bleachbit, these things might be of interest to the voter. Doncha think?

It sounds like you arguing for the Mueller investigation to continue unabated.

Maybe. None of that has anything to do with what Russia released.

Lots of things would be of interest to the voter. If we had complete transcripts of every call Trump made during the campaign, that would be of interest to the voter too.

But you have exactly ZERO right to that information.

Sure. Why not? It’s been unabated for two years and they can’t even define what crime they think might have happened. So sure, investigate away.

Understand. But the dems have played fast and loose with national security for years. Maybe after being bitten in the ass like this they will start taking it more seriously?

And you call me a troll…

Hahahahahaha

You have a right to all the dirt on Hillary?
Do you also have a right to Trumps tax returns and all dirt on him?

So if someone STOLE trumps tax return, you wouldn’t care?

Lol.

Sure thing General.

The DNC’s e-mail server has nothing to do with national security so your point is meaningless.

Yes. Of course. But no politician is going to give up any info that does not help them. But if anybody else has anything then sure, bring it out. But it needs to be better than Stormy. Stormy lost momentum pretty quick. Seems that ten year old affairs by private citizens could include over half of all Americans. Not very exciting stuff.

Id just like to point out that this isnt wierd or out of the ordinary at all. Its standard practice in lots of places to destroy devices you no longer need. Ive done it myself.

When was the last time a presidential candidate refused to provrdtheir tax returns?
Politicians provide that information all the time.
On the other hand, I don’t know if any politician that has turned over access to their email accounts.

You are endorsing the hacking of personal information. Would you only endorse hacking personal info of politicians or foes that apply to everyone?

It happened already and Altair was one of the people calling for the newspapers that published it to be prosecuted.

Totally incorrect. Nobody in the federal government is told to destroy their own equipment. Completely false. The feds have specialists who are authorized to do this. If anybody randomly decides on their own to destroy data or equipment, they have committed a crime. Hillary was not issued a hammer to bash her own blackberry. Your argument is bogus.

I can’t remember it ever happening. But this issue seems to have lost all momentum. It’s probably not going to be a factor in the next election. So what now?

Destroying a BlackBerry isn’t destroying any data when everything is stored server side.

I guess we get to look forward to the democratic candidate telling all of you who are going to be howling to see THEIR tax returns to ■■■■ right off.

Were these government phones? I havent read anywhere that these were government owned?

I was thinking about starting my own thread, but figured I would jump on yours instead.

All countries worth their salt engage in cyber espionage.

WikiLeaks is a sleazy site that has leaked damaging information for years on many topics. There is nothing particularly special about the DNC leaks.

In the past, cyber espionage activities took place in secret with each country jockeying for position. That all changed with Trump’s election. From the get go the Hillary campaign sought to elevate Russian cyber espionage as the reason she lost the election. Had she won, this activity would have continued in secret, as it has for years.

DEMs and the media have followed Hillary’s lead and now have elevated Russian cyber espionage to the status of national emergency. Some establishment Republicans have jumped on that bandwagon.

In Trump’s one-on-one meeting with Putin, what was there really to discuss regarding cyber espionage?. Both Putin and Trump know exactly what is going on. They both know the capabilities of their respective cyber espionage agencies and most certainly know that Russia did meddle, as they have frequently done in the past. The U.S. has certainly done their share of meddling as well. And we can’t discount other foreign actors.

So what exactly would Trump say to Putin that wouldn’t elicit hardy laughter from both of them? In the scheme of things there are many more pressing issues at hand that most certainly were discussed at length. I seriously doubt they wasted any time on this topic.

That brings us to the news conference. Both Trump and Putin knew the LW MSM would be obsessed with Russia, Russia.

So what were the options here?

Was Trump going to play into the media’s hands and undo everything he achieved in his one-on-one by publicly berating Putin? What exactly would that have accomplished?

While I agree Trump was clumsy, I do understand his frustration. This obsession with Russia is a made-up narrative to intentionally cripple Trump. In that regard Trump is doing what he always does when he is attacked. He lashes out. I agree with him that this Russian meddling crap and the Mueller investigation is driving a wedge between two countries that desperately need to work together.
