If we can make 51 percent of America’s population dependent upon the federal government for its subsistence, we can then bribe them for their vote, keep ourselves in power and keep the remaining portion of America’s productive population enslaved to pay the bills ____ Our Fifth Column open border socialist crowd’s long term strategy

What on earth does “Glass Steagall” have to do with a socialist winning a primary?

It is part of her platform.
If I recall, China has done the same on a larger scale. Thousands of apartments, buildings, even cities with no one living there. Say, ‘Maybe we over-built…’ No one lost their job, and actually, no one complained either!
The difference in a Democracy and the Communist maybe. BTW, Bernie Sanders never explained how he was going to pay for all of his freebies…even when confronted, could not explain. Actually, he did explain- the point is to get elected, then…" As many have stated, Liberalism is in reality a disease- affects the area of truthfulness, common sense and logical reasoning. Not good with abstracts…
MoleUK: Jezcoe:Yeah… I have the steady march of condos making it’s way towards me and oddly… no one seems to be living in them.
That’s normal… right?
.
That’s the infuriating thing, they don’t even bother to rent them out half the time. Drives up both property and rental prices.
I’m lucky in that I inherited enough to buy my 1st house outright, but most in my generation aren’t nearly so fortunate.
I am lucky that I moved into this part of Brooklyn a little over 20 years ago in a three family house that has the third generation owning it.
They are more interested in having good tenants that pay on time and take care of the place (since they lived through the bad times of the 70’s and 80’s… like there was a woman who ran a brothel out of the second floor at one time) than extracting the most rent that they can.
But all of my property and escape plan involves moving up to Maine and retiring early. The city is getting to be a harder place to be… more homogenized… more expensive… diminishing vibrance in pursuit of corporate sterility.
I wonder if she gave a discount to the tenants on the other floors.

The ghost cities of China have nothing to do with what is happening in a lot of the major cities around the world.
Large cities like New York and London are seeing a huge amount of construction fueled by foreign capital looking to launder money out of their country.
As an example… remember the dumb fight over the horse carriages in Central Park? That was never really over the health and welfare of the horses… it is because the stables are on prime West Side real estate where developers want to build large buildings.

I have a feeling that I pay the least amount in then building… but I have lived here so long that I am kind of the defacto super.
Been here 20 years and in that time they have raised my rent $450 a month… even through the boom.
I am very lucky that I have a below market rate apartment in a revitalizing neighborhood when I know there are people who pay twice as much for less.

What on earth does the above conversation have to do with an extreme socialist winning a primary?

Jezcoe:I would have voted for her if I lived in that district.
Yeah it’s the new blood of the party emerging.
The right will scream about communists! but it’s pretty vanilla overall.
And I don’t think they get to point to abolishing ICE as “extreme” after spending decades arguing to abolish the departments of education, energy and some even the IRS.
As for medicaid for all, that will sell well. Easy to understand and appreciate.
Jobs guarantee and housing will piss people off though.
Ending private prisons and mandatory arbitration are her best positions.

She isn’t an extreme socialist.
She is someone who brought forth issues that are important to the constituents that she wishes to represent.
If one were to look at her ad, she used a populist message to communicate the issues that people who live in a very wealthy city yet feel the squeeze of not feeling the fruits of that wealth.
The crazy thing is that her ideology would not be seen as super crazy if she was a white dude in the 1940’s and 50’s running on this.
Extreeeeeeme socialism!!! .
Look the same stuff Chavez ran on. How’d that work out? = Dictator and starvation.
My favorite quote was from someone on CNN, who said it was not a surprise he lost because the district is only 20% white now.

I didn’t even mention her…And I think it’s great she won. At least she does not lie about her beliefs like most dem politicians.

Which involve handing out government cheese without saying how the government cheese will be paid for.
She is a classic extreme socialist who promises to hand out government cheese and keep a constituency dependent on that cheese so they will sell their vote to keep the free cheese wagon coming their way. Of course, once in Washington she will live large on the taxpayer’s dime, while her constituents will be encouraged to prostitute their vote for the necessities of life.
