That’s exactly what Trump supporters are attempting to sell.
I’m going to let you in on a dirty little secret. The national debt has been spiraling out of control for decades. And neither party has done squat about it. You would agree no? Without the tax cuts the debt would be spinning out of control. With the tax cuts the debt is spinning out of control. The government takes in 4.4 trillion per year. If we gave them five trillion they would simply consider it to be extra money for them to blow. It would not go to the debt. Not a penny of it. You would agree, no?
False. The last 2 dem presidents tackled the deficits they inherited which is the 1st step. You guys of course blow them up with tax cuts
False, The democrats suck as do the republicans. The debt has done nothing but increase under both parties. For decades. Bigly. Cool it with the politician worship. None of them have earned it. They spend sooooo much freaking money that it is impossible to keep up with through the tax code. It isn’t doable through taxes. The plan has to be much more creative than that.
Nope. Obama reduced spending as a % of GDP and cut the deficit he inherited by almost 60%. Clinton left with a surplus. You guys blow up the deficit at full employment. Only one party has taken control of the deficit. Even Reagan blew it up. Facts are facts.

Facts are facts. And the fact is that no matter who is in charge, they run up the debt. You cannot point to any period where the national debt clock stopped turning. Can ya now. Newsflash. Your beloved politicians are not perfect. They screw up a lot. As do ours. This is one of those times.

What metric are you using for this?
You’re the only one talking about perfect. All I’ve been saying is better.

No.
Because it takes legislation to spend more.
But thanks for being honest that you support tax cuts that dramatically raise the deficit. It kind of undercuts your whole “fiscal conservative” thing.
I’m not using a metric. You may look it up if you like. I would love to know who made the national debt clock stop. Oh wait, I already know. Nobody. Every year it is higher. There are zero years where it went in reverse. None. If you google national debt in any given year, then google it for the next year, the number will always be larger. Never smaller. National debt clock era.

Do you think there is a difference between losing 100 dollars or 10 dollars out of your wallet? Just checking.

First step is reducing the deficit. Too bad you and the GOP always blow it

So nominal dollars?
Probably not the most useful metric.
Percent of GDP is much more relevant. During the Clinton administration it fell from 65% to 55%, roughly.

It’s amazing that you guys are just so stuck in this complete fantasy world you live in.
I know right? The dems are amazing! No room for improvement. Perfect. Even though they have had all seats of power many times and never once , did anything but increase spending and the debt. Same as the GOP. Your worship of politicians is nauseating.
What is my fantasy? That the dems are not perfect and the bear responsibility for running up the debt just as the republicans do? That’s a fantasy? Do me a favor, get me out of my fantasy and take me to a time where either party executed an actual plan for success. Can you do that please?
The national debt increased every year under the Clinton administration. The topic of this thread is the national debt. Not the GDP. I never claimed that both parties sucked regarding GDP.I claimed that they both sucked regarding debt. And I was correct. By the only viable measurement. The national debt.

Well, the real fantasy at this point is thinking the debt will ever be paid or that there is any real thought to try from anyone.

But the other strong fantasy you have is that the republicans are not far worse for the deficits and debt than Dems.
You can’t claim to be looking for a relevant response. No one has claimed, as you have repeatedly suggested, that either side has done great, let alone perfect. And you ignore the multiple comments describing the successes, however modest, of Clinton and Obama to address the deficit.
How about this analogy: neither Republicans nor Democrats have been successful in stopping illegal immigration. Political ideologies such as amnesty and looking the other way suggest that they don’t even want to. So let’s just acknowledge that neither party really gives a damn about it, and stop all this fussing and fighting.
First of all you have no business telling me what my fantasies are. That’s a little creepy. Secondly, it’s fake news, Entirely invented by you. I said no such thing.
