The car industry shoulders a lot of the blame for poverty in America, or rather the people who fall for it should since nobody twisted their arms. Friend of mine is around 55, nowhere near set for retirement and just spent 70k on a new pick up, dope.

Later on in life I do have plans to go on a cross country tour. Using either a touring motorcycle (like a Suzuki C90 Boulevard) or a small classic convertible like an early 00s Miata. Just to say I did it.
As for Europe I have a strong desire to visit France and Belgium, since they are basically the Mecca for Western Front World War I battlefields.

I’m right there with you. My vacations are time for projects around the house. I think not being married anymore rescued me from all that money I used to blow on chaotic “vacations” and shopping trips to out of state malls and outlets.
When my boys were younger and living at home, travel baseball during the summer and fall to other states served as vacations.
Try a real challenge for yourself and step foot in all 50 United States.

I haven’t done that. No desire to.
It’s not “easy” to do either.
