Who says? Do you have a link? No proof of that at all. The CDC says that if you’re vaccinated, you’re very, very low risk. The hospitals are not loaded with vaccinated people. I don’t need any government to make my life risk free. Do you?

Normally, I’d agree…but vaccinations are different.

Variants derive from people that are infected. Each anti-vaxxer is an opportunity for a variant that the vaccine doesn’t protect against.

It seems is the law of probability and herd immunity. Allow me to explain. The vaccine is not 100% effective, there are some that it will not provide protection. Further, there are a few who cannot be vaccinated due to some health issue. These two groups comprise the “at risk” population.

So, each day, the “at risk” population interacts with other people. If everyone has been vaccinated, then the probability of the “at risk” population contracting Covid is nearly zero. As more people choose not to get vaccinated, the probability of the “at risk” population contracting Covid rises.

So choosing not to get vaccinated has ramifications on you and the rest of us. You or I, even if vaccinated, could unknowingly be part of that “at risk” population where the vaccine doesn’t help us.

Hope this helps.

ETA: and as DisturbedGuy said, mutant viruses can emerge and propagate if there are more unvaccinated and those mutants may resist current vaccines.

So you have grave concerns for the health of the anti vaxxers?

It did not help. And red states agree. Which is why they are rapidly dumping their mask mandates. I think Blue states should wear masks until every single person is either vaccinated or Covid free. Maybe even after that. Because Covid could come back.

Hope this helps.

Who cares? As long as hospitals aren’t being overrun, It’s all good.

I think you should mask for at least three more years to properly protect the anti vaxxers. Being the despicable, non caring person that I am, I will dump mine as soon as my compassionate governor gives me permission to make my own decision.

The data disagrees with your fee fees

Why would I care about nationally? Other union workers have state governors. They can vote for their best interest as well. They don’t need me.

Trumpers have been fawning over government help during Covid they even tout it as a source of pride…:man_shrugging:

To some we wouldn’t even have a vaccine ready if it was not for the government

As to mask let’s face it, if it’s that big of a deal don’t wear em…the only real enforcement comes from business who are less worried about folks getting sick and more worried about liability

I’m talking about the anti-vaxxers and how their obstinance puts us all at risk. I guess you didn’t understand since you responded somewhat randomly about masks, which wasn’t the topic.

The data on my theoretical example? Do tell.

Authoritarian states did no better than not authoritarian states. But you knew that.

I don’t. Nor any of the other Trump supporters really. Just like they have no grave concerns for mine. What goes around comes around.

Those are for ethanol fuel.

High fructose corn syrup is a horrible food additive…no argument there.

I’m not. You addressed me with a foul mouth.

Vaccinated people don’t need them.

That business is going to need a better policy in a few weeks.

We aren’t protected from a new Chinese pangolin derivative either.

As long as Chinese wet markets stay open…my concern for variants is needless here.
