To harm his presidency as much as possible because without it they know he’ll probably win reelection.

They know that as it sits now there’s zero chance of his being removed by the senate.

There’s also a scenario by which they could make Pelosi President by impeaching both Trump and Pence.

But impeachments without removal give the encumbent a boost. So I think they intend to blackmail or threaten Senators to turn against Trump. Not directly, but maybe CIA/FBI blackhats letting senators know some of the dirt they have on them (some may be being entrapped as we speak), a few Seth Rich styled failed robberies that become murders by the Dem wet-workers from South America.
And Anifa protests outside the homes of Senators’ families to make them feel unsafe.

Unless they believe they can generate the media perception that a large number of GOP Senators want rid of Trump, and a media narrative that Trump deserves to go, and the fake polling that most Americans want him gone, as cover for enough senators to bow to illegally applied pressure to vote impeachment and removal.
There is no bottom below which Sieve and co won’t go, and they can’t afford full disclosure of their past behaviour.
