The J.F.K era on the Federal Courts ended today as William J. Nealon, who just set a service record 2 days ago, died today

Just 2 days after becoming the longest serving United States District Judge in history, Senior United States District Judge William J. Nealon of the Middle District of Pennsylvania died today in Scranton.

His death brings to an end the J.F.K. era on the Federal Courts, almost 55 years after his death.

United States District Judge Manuel Real of the Central District of California now takes the title of longest serving current United States District Judge. He has served since November 3, 1966.

Senior United States District Judge Jack Weinstein of the Eastern District of New York, the only other remaining LBJ appointee, has served since April 15, 1967.

Wow. That’s amazing.

It would be interesting for the younger members on this board to look back 50 or 60 years down the road and how long many of the these young un’s that Trump is appointing stay on.
