A public Sacramento street was blocked by barricades, a moving van, and a 24-hour security guard. It’s a new tactic being used by a business along Railroad Drive to drive out homeless campers.

Rich Eaton owns a warehouse along the dead-end industrial street and put the blockade in place.

“We’re not stopping anything but the nefarious,” he said. “The nefarious people who are coming here to commit crimes, that is why we’re here.”

Two months ago the street was filled with RVs, tents and trailers lining the block. Homeless camped there all hours of the day despite city rules banning overnight parking, and businesses say crimes like theft, drugs, and prostitution were out of control.

“We used to go home every night worrying about our stuff being stolen,” said Justin Funkhouser, who works on the street.

“Literally every day, there was a stolen vehicle that was left here chopped up,” said John Rippey, who owns a business on the street.

“The city refuses to do any enforcement on Railroad Drive so it’s a free zone. The criminal knows it,” Eaton said.

When the government is so incompetent for “we the people”, it’s then up to the people to be competent for all. As time goes on, I believe you’ll see more and more examples of this type of reaction to the problems being created by our government’s inactions/actions?

…and now consider that the pools of future police officers is declining sharply? This may be the example of the future for many cities across the US?

I recently put out another thread about the decline of people going into law enforcement. It’s like a double edged sword, a continuing decline in law enforcement and a subsequent rise in the criminal element. Doesn’t bode well for those communities

That’s one thing I definitely don’t miss walking downtown to work since the pandemic even though it isn’t Sacramento we still have a hell of a homeless problem is leaving my shoes outside the house scared there would be broken glass on the bottom of my shoes after walking through syringes daily from the parking garage to work.

I just don’t miss that part.

The city is going to issue a citation if he keeps the street blocked.

And people wonder why the homeless and criminals are emboldened.

In the world of today’s lib elites the so-called privileged (home owners, business owners, taxpayers, law abiding citizens) are the bad guys.
