The Future of Our Glorious Party Is the -Cortez Woman

i dont see much distinction between the “state” controlling something and the acquisition of something but that might be because i am not against profit and free market enterprise

What kind of millennial tripe is that? There is no winner without a loser. If labor gets too competitive, who loses?

No. Stop trying to put the government in charge of everything.

Salk developed the vaccine while at a state supported university.

Who funded it?

Public and private agencies.

No. Private donations.

You are unaware that Salk was paid a salary by a public university? You are unaware that his lab was paid for by the university and private donations?

I am aware that what is now March of Dimes funded the research.

The temptation of buying votes with “free government cheese” is too tempting for dishonorable politicians to not promise free government cheese for all, excluding those who produce the cheese.

If we can make 51 percent of America’s population dependent upon the federal government for its subsistence, we can then bribe them for their vote, keep ourselves in power and keep the remaining portion of America’s productive population enslaved to pay the bills ____ Our Socialist Fifth Column open border leaders’ long term strategy

Yes. But the university paid Salk a salary and gave him a basic lab which was expanded by private donations. It isn’t as if Salk started from nothing before private donations came in.

I sought and received 3MM in tax payer dollars for my business. It allowed us to spend 30MM on construction; money into the hands of plumbers, masons, electricians, et al.

Tasty pork and healthful pork for many.

Ok, if you say so.

Socialism involves the nationalization of key industries by the state. Leninism and communist ideologies derived from it involves the confiscation of the means of production, or capital, by the dictatorship of the proletariat.

Social democrats basically desire an expanded welfare state and a more equal distribution of the resources generated by capital. They do not desire the nationalization of industrial output.

I am not a millennial.

I have been a freelancer my entire life.

Being able to sell my labor is highly reliant on networking.

So if someone else is hired over me for a job, there is no way I can see that that job was my loss when it was never a sure thing to begin with.

Going through life any other way would be really exhausting.

I never said put them in charge.

Put medical professionals in charge.

Have the common purse of the government pay for it.

It will be cheaper than the system we have now with much better results.

In addition to the $30MM in direct economic benefit from our $3MM government grant (mentioned above) there is projected to be another $50MM in indirect economic benefit from the construction project: parking, hotels, restaurants, Uber, etc.

This is a wise use of tax payer dollars. $80MM in economic benefit from a $3MM grant.

Of course the politicians we lobbied for the money are smart and visionary and responsible. Not all are like that.

You act like one.

Who is in charge of public goods?

What an incredibly stupid thing to say.

There was a time, some time ago where you would refrain from such stupidity.

I think the age of Trump has put bugs in the brains of some for who it was possible to have reasonable disagreements with but still be able to respect their point.

Sadly… that is happening less and less around here.
