Yes. Slavery has a very specific meaning. Force.
He’s talking about the era…
But this an interesting statement, nonetheless

The impact of slavery was pretty big. After reconstruction basically failed, there was a century long concerted effort to financially oppress the former slaves and the descendants of those slaves.
This started to end only in the late 60’s.
To say that there is no lasting economic impact from this is quite silly.
Really? How long will it take then in your expert opinion? Since the 60s, we’re into our 3rd generation. How far removed to we have to be, before you realize there are far more current, relative factors that impact our discussion, than slavery?
I think it will be done when people stop pretending that it had no impact.
Slavery was just the initial sin. A sin that the men at the time knew they were committing but had no reason to end it because it was where their wealth resided.
Then the failure of Reconstruction. That was a failure of this nation and it should be recognized.
Then the next century of outright oppression while White people were privy to all sorts of government programs that helped them build wealth and the middle class.
Recognizing these things may start to help absolve our country of this long time sin.

…partly. One side is somewhat controlled, while the other is free market. I prefer the free market side because that’s where I can identify patterns, trends, seasons and spikes that allow me to get way ahead of my competition.

“Accumulated wealth” is vastly overrated. Wealth comes and goes.

Really? As time goes on, impact diminishes. It’s been 150 years and due to this long time passing, it has little to no negative impact but on a positive not, those slaves are now potential customers.
Slaves were freed 150 years ago, and for 10-20 years or so, former black slaves started to do better.
Then, the US Federal government left the former slave states, and those states, started civil war part 2. And crap has been hitting the fan ever since.
Sure, it is better today…but no where near where we need to be.

Slavery was the beginning.
The century of oppression after the civil war was the continuation.

Amazing. Where who “needs to be”?

How does Jim Crow explain black nation poverty in the north?

In 1964, the people of the US attempted to put this to bed. They created laws to give those who’d been potentially deprived, a financial helping hand. That was combined with bussing, that then attempted to create an equal educational system. Several generations have been born since then and now, parenting has the most positive/negative impact on outcomes…period.

I would not say nobody.
Who is being oppressed? And who are the oppressors? Got any names?

Ok because you are talking about things that require regulation to implement and enforce. Which is not a free market principal

I know what he’s claiming. What’s interesting about it?
So? Who is being oppressed? I would like specifics. Such as names, places etc.
Government race based oppression extended to the north. See FHA.
But there is also corporate race based oppression…

There are no regulations in the side I mentioned which to be specific, is the buying and selling of used cars. You’re on your own and the chances of making it in this competitive market is very hard. Just look at all of the used car lots that have gone out of business just this year alone due to COVID and the fact that there were no regulations that could help.
