The Constitution Is The Crisis

Disagree. I think it is mainstream Woke.

Progs will say such things and then proceed to change the meaning of the words in the constitution. The result is the same as rewriting the constitution. The left SCOTUS justices are notorious for such flim flam.

Walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, is a duck.

individual SCOTUS matter not in the least. It’s what the consensus is among the 9 that count.

Allan

The 3rd seems a bit useless now:

No Soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the Owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law.

Thud, the amendment provisions in the Constitution.

Things can be done, and undone. Prohibition is a perfect example.

Uh oh.

Words like totalitarian and authoritarian start to lose their impact and meaning when you willy-nilly apply them to people you don’t like.

Good thing I didn’t. Whew!

You don’t think so? Who has Biden surrounded himself with who is a totalitarian?

The Woke. Every single person who espouses critical theory.

So you can’t actually name anyone specific? Just the general “woke” bogeyman?
What’s totalitarian about Critical Theory?

Deb Haaland is one example in the cabinet, but not really the point. Watch the bureaucrats.

Everything.

What’s the difference between authoritarianism and totalitarianism?

[quote=“SneakySFDude, post:27, topic:237631”]

Really? That’s it? So issue would be fixed by removing the third? Maybe it takes up too much ink on the page?

Authoritarianism is primarily concerned with control over all branches of government, limiting civil liberties, suppressing opposition, and a lack of free and fair elections.

Totalitarianism is that, but taken further and seeks control of social and economic institutions and many aspects of private life.

What evidence to you have that Haaland is a totalitarian?

Maybe we need a thread on critical theory because it seems that you have a very particular view of it.

And capitalism is superior to both. In fact our system is so successful it drives the entire world’s economy.

Apples and carrots. Capitalism is an economic system, not a political system. Russia has an authoritarian form of government and practices capitalism.

Your definitions are pretty good.

Authoritarianism - you have to do it, but you don’t have to like it.

Totalitarianism - not only will you do it, you’ll like it.

Which do we have now?

As for Deb, do a little research.

Are they mutually exclusive?

Neither.

I did and found nothing.

:rofl::+1:t3:
