They stopped showing them for the same reason they didn’t show the Bugs Bunny cartoons when I was a kid in the 80s where, just for example, a cigar explodes in Humphrey Bogart’s face, leaving him wearing blackface and then he sings “Mammy.”

I remember that weird period where they would show the “Duck Season/ Rabbit Season” episodes but cut out the gun going off.

I could care less I never thought anything of it, label changing isn’t as big of an issue to me personally than some of the other cancel things going on. Only thing I read was the label was being redesigned and one of the families who were making money off the label wasn’t to happy about it.

This doesn’t seem to really line up with what is being passed off as cancel culture.

This seems to be more in line with the anxiety being felt by some people as American society and culture changes and white privilege erodes.

That anxiety was most prominently on display during the Capitol insurrection and trying to overturn a a lost election. People can talk about the attack on democracy and subverting the Constitution and all that is true , but what it really is about is white identity being threatened by a diverse citizenry with a lot of those diverse Americans taking power like Kamala Harris, and which was really exposed when Obama was elected.

The growing hostility to the American liberal democracy from the GOP is because that liberal democracy serves all of its citizens, so why support a system like that?

The Confederate flags, the nooses…those didn’t happen by accident. Those are the symbols of an aggrieved population of white people lashing out, fearful of their place in society and angry at a coalition of diverse voters who voted the first White President out of power.
