i could not agree more. Well said.
Banning guns is like putting a band aid on gangrene and thinking you’ve found a cure.

Not one person in the entire 220 posts has said anything about banning guns in any way shape or form.
if you’re talking about all guns, that’s not gonna happen. if you’re talking about one gun, i agree. the shooters will simply use other guns to blow away high school students.
We should charge the guy who did that with murder.
You are equating the right to own a gun with the right to be free I think… And that is the heart of the argument I suppose.
…and make sure similar murderes have similar easy access to guns with no ramifications for the gun owner who made it so easy for the monster to gun so efficiently.
Also, we need to make sure future monsters can easily buy guns legally like past masters.
We also should ensure that future monsters have access to the most efficient guns that past monsters have used to such terrible effect.
In short - we need to so nothing to impede future monsters from doing what past monsters have done because…well, because we love guns and the right to own them more than we care about the right of those teachers not be murdered.
I deem you a monster. What do we do about you?
it looks like we’ll do nothing. the next monster should show us who he is around 6/30/18.
What “something” do you propose should be done?
Boils down to you wanting oh so badly to punish others for his crime, sorry, no sale.
i’ve said this a million times. there is no solution. even if we make schools like prisons the monsters will just move 100 yards.
nope. not at all.
WuWei: Konssurvative1:Gun owners need to accept laws that place responsibility on them for safeguarding their own weapons from family members. And be held legally responsible if your weapon is used by a family member to commit a crime.
Different than any other possession? If a parent leaves the car keys on the kitchen counter and a 15 year old takes the car out and kills someone, what do you want to do to the parents?
That’s the problem with enacting laws in a knee-jerk reaction to emotional incidents … unintended consequences.
Case in point … The Patriot Act.
Also New York’s SAFE Act which capped semi-auto handgun magaqzine capacity to 7 rounds. But they forgot to carve out an exception for law enforcement so they had to go back in and amend the bill.

Don’t need to say it. It is the left’s ultimate goal.
Oh, and the left doen’t want to ban all guns from all people. I’m sure that politicians, the well connected, celebrities will still be allowed to have their armed guards because, you know, their “special”.
Then never mind. I’m done here. Nothing to be done…nothing. We need not discuss any more.

I realise it’s heartbreaking.
It’s nice of you to say it so clearly - the number of american children who are murdered in school with guns is an acceptable price for you relative to your right to buy a guy hassle free.
Here is the NRA celebrating the roll back of the Obama rule re: forbidding those not mentally capable of handling their own money from buying a gun.
NRA-ILA | A Promise Kept: Trump Signs Repeal of Obama-Era Social Security Gun Prohibition Rule
That bill essentially equates mental health with your ability to handle your own money. If you aren’t mentally capable of cashing your own checks, you should not own a gun - according to the Obama rule. The NRA opposes that.
Here is a op-ed on a mental health firearm bill that the NRA backed in 2015 - I understand it’s an op-ed, but rather than wade through the bill from scratch, the author makes my point for me. I believe there are links to the legislation in the piece:
The NRA bill, though, equates release with health and stability. Forget the doctors, the courts, and the wishes of family members – the NRA bill restores gun rights, and returns a person’s guns, immediately and automatically. That’s regardless of a person’s mental health condition, and regardless of the risks or likelihood of relapse.
Think about it. Your loved one – with the aid of antipsychotic drugs, and as resources for long-term inpatient care facilities continue to shrink – leaves the hospital. Over time, the risk that he’ll harm himself will diminish. There may come a time when you’re more comfortable – and he’s more comfortable – with the idea of him having his hunting rifle back, or buying a new one.
But as far as the NRA is concerned, your loved one can leave the hospital and buy a gun on his way home. Once he leaves the hospital, the FBI would have to remove his name and record from the background check system.

That ultra conservative group that always falls in line with Republicans called the ACLU also supported that laws repeal.

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is pleased to support H.R. 3516, the Social Security Beneficiary 2nd Amendment Rights Protection Act. All individuals have the right to be judged on the basis of their individual capabilities, not the characteristics and capabilities that are sometimes attributed (often mistakenly) to any group or class to which they belong. A disability should not constitute grounds for the automatic per se denial of any right or privilege, including gun ownership. Accordingly, we endorse the Social Security Beneficiary 2nd Amendment Rights Protection Act.
Oh wait. They are about as left wing as an organization comes yet agreed Obama’s law on SS financial assistance affecting gun rights needed to go.
