Yep!
I took it in on a friday to the dealer. Was making a sound that was clearly transmission related - that opinion confirmed by a transmission specialist who said to take it to the dealer.
No codes came up, tech couldn’t see anything wrong.
Was due for one of the big services, and brakes and rotors etc…so sunk 2500 in on a big service.
Got it back satruday. Monday on the way to work, the transmission esstially blew up.
Limped it back to the dealer. They initially said 7k.
I asked if they could talk to subaru, explain that I just put 2.5K into the car two days ago, etc…
They came back and said it was all taken care of, no charge.
I suspect Subaru knows they should have recalled that batch and made it right.

My wife keeps getting offers from the Honda dealer. 20K for her CRV sight unseen.

Politicians shouldn’t be allowed to name initiatives.
I don’t care what side of the political spectrum they occupy. Far too often they come up with duplicitous names like “Ministry of Truth”. Even worse when they try to make it into an acronym.

Calif is doing its part to help find the submerged bodied.

Same thing happened to some relatives visiting from out of state. They had a 2014 Outback, which is the first year to have that transmission, I think. They were driving through an intersection and the thing just died. Wouldn’t move an inch. Luckily the Subaru dealership was less than a quarter mile away. Anyway, they had that car for a month before they could get a replacement transmission. Also, it was still under warranty.
“We’re just like California!” Is not the flex you think it is when California was literally on fire for like two years straight and suffering from the worst drought in thousands of years.

Government should do something.
Oh, and about a recall: I’m sure some bean counters at Subaru crunched the numbers and decided it would be cheaper to deal with the issue on a case by case basis.

seems to be the case as I was way out of warrenty.
They probably figured most people trade in before it becomes an issue, so the few original owners that get stuck, they will cover it.
I miss my old Outback. It’s my next car again.
