Not in Cancun.
And? Did he miss any votes on legislation important to Texas over the two days that he was in Cancun?
 Samm:
Samm:Texans elected him to represent the State in Washington D.C.
Does Cruz represent DC or Texas or Cancun?

Was the Senate in session?
Not in Cancun.

He wasn’t in Cancun for two days. He came running back to apologize for not being a man.

The myth of “rugged individualism” was shattered last year…
Nah, it wasn’t.
Yes it was. The first right winger that carried a “I need a haircut” sign shattered it into a million pieces.
I don’t doubt you, though.

 TheRedComet:
 TheRedComet:Uh yeah I would.
Since when have I voted for democrats?
Touché’ Sorry. I thought you voted democrat.
Having said that, I still see no reason for him to have stayed, or apologize. There’s nothing he could really do. He’s not in the Texas STATE government.
 WuWei:
WuWei:Today, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of Brooklyn, NY, deserves to be the Senator from Texas more than Ted Cruz.
Today, Robert Francis O’Rourke deserves to be the Senator from Texas more than Ted Cruz.
No & NO!
 Guvnah:

He’s not a state senator. What’s he going to do? FYI: If he was a democrat this wouldn’t be on the news.
Both of your sentences are the entirety of how stupid the uproar over Cruz’ trip is.
The pettiness of libs knows no bounds.
And in my opinion, Cruz was a wuss to apologize for it.
Exactly my point! Thank you.

Leaders lead from the front, not Cancun.
It was fine to send his woman and kids. Not fine for him to go.
Like I said, he has issues being a man.
Happy wife, happy life.
He is not a leader of Texas, he was elected to represent them in the Senate, not lead the state.
He is a leader of Texas. One of two. They are all elected to be leaders. To fight for, to defend, to lead.
He is a Texas Senator, not a Cancun Senator. When there’s work to be done, everybody pitches in.
When we load hay or works cows, we all load hay or work cows until it’s done, then we all have a break together.
We don’t run off to the beach and leave the rest to “deal with it”. If you don’t know how to haul hay or work cows, you work the gate or bring water. You don’t go to Cancun.
What he did here was separate himself from the people who elected him with privilege. He abandoned them because he could. That is a moral issue.
I really can’t decide if you are on the left or right. I’m serious.
I often like your posts, but sometimes am just completely SMH.
I see your outrage as emotional, & nothing to do with morality.
Yup, the optics was a small bad. Not a big one. Those who are making this molehill into a mountain to me are doing just that.
I really don’t see much of a response from anyone there yet except the utility companies. I used to live in Texas & intend to move back in a couple months. I wouldn’t have asked for government help, have not here either, we have a severe ice storm & lots of damage.
I don’t think the government should pay for everything. Government should MAYBE regulate some, & expect the utilities to get going to fix it.
I went to Catrina in New Orleans. FEMA bought thousands of RV’s & they set in fields while people slept in cars & under bridges. I don’t think they ever passed them all out. The process to get one was so absurd & time consuming people just slept in their cars.
It should have been:
-Proof of address
-ID
-Photo of home destroyed
-Here’s the keys to the RV, Miss.
seriously, did he not think this through? and he is already absolutely disliked (by the media, obviously the left and a rising amount of the right), did he think he could just fly to mexico and not get noticed? lol

How much soup have you passed out?
Exactly in proportion to my status as Senator. Can’t make soup without water.
I see, handing out soup is no more in a senators job description than it is in yours. If you want to fault him for it morally, I see no reason that isn’t applicable to everyone not currently helping.
I’m not in Cancun.
So back to if I have to suffer so does he.

We covet what we constantly see. Take the signs down and see what happens.

Why even do that much? Not like people were going to swoop in for a luxurious free stay in a FEMA trailer for the fun of it.

Morality is an emotion

To minimise the time spent among the suffering plebes, of course.

his job as Senator should be organizing relief.
According to you.
His job as a Senator is really to represent the state of Texas in the United States Senate.
I don’t feel like your posts represent Texans on this forum well.
If you had a hired hand and that storm hit in calving season (which it did) and your hand took off to the beach in the middle of it, what would you do?
Bad analogy, he is more like a sales rep for the ranch, not a hired hand. And he don’t know nothing about birthing calves, so you would tell him to stay out of the way.
He’s a hired hand.
