No I didn’t. I asked about how Biden’s policy differed from Trump. Since Trump was the last president and I’m told he had the border under control… I think it’s valid to get the Biden policy and compare to the last President.

But we don’t need to compare, if that causes angst. Like I’ve said several times before… let’s discuss what Biden did, policy wise.

It slowed because of the agreement Trump forced on Mexico.

Mexico’s President Lays Blame for Border Surge on Biden (cis.org)

Now, has Biden threatened to reinstate the tariff on Mexico for not living up to its agreement it reached with the Trump administration?
If not, then that is your change in policy that caused this disaster.

But that is not the only policy Biden has changed.

Immigration: Biden formally ends ‘remain in Mexico’ policy after suspending it earlier this year - CNNPolitics

Plus, of course, his campaign promises of not being so mean to people crossing our borders illegally. He has lived up to that promise.

No, this is the Biden Surge, 100%.

Oh good lord. Give us a break.

From the New York Post. The President of Mexico calls this wreck Biden’s Border Crisis. “ Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador blamed President Biden for the migrant surge that has erupted into a full-blown border crisis, arguing the “expectations” he set left migrants with the perception that they would be let in the US.”

I know libs hate Tom Homan the former ICE Director but he nailed in an interview with Harris Faulkner today. “ Former acting ICE director Tom Homan harshly criticized President Biden’s border policies, saying the administration handed control of the border to criminal cartels. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott issued a disaster declaration in response to the number of illegal border crossings.”

From Foxnews.com…headline Representative John Katko…Every state is now a border state!

“As the crisis at the southwest border rapidly intensifies, every state has now become a border state, and every community is affected by this administration’s destructive policies. As Border Patrol resources are shifted from the northern and coastal borders to aid overwhelmed and overextended law enforcement at the southwest border, we expose ourselves to serious national security threats.

What is worse is a lack of clarity, information, and access by the White House and the Department of Homeland Security. While the Biden administration fails to provide any transparency into the conditions at the border, we will continue to shine a light on the impact these policies have on our homeland security and for communities across the country. Our recent trips to the border uncovered security gaps that cannot go unaddressed.“

Here’s an opinion piece from USA Today…hardly a bastion of conservatism. Lacy Cooper wrote it and lays out her qualifications…” For the last 15 years I’ve protected Arizonans and Americans from dangerous criminals – the past eight working for the United States Attorney’s Office securing the southwest border. I’ve seen how decisions made in the halls of power – whether it be Washington, D.C., or Phoenix – play out on the ground. When our leaders put politics and political correctness before safety and security, there are real life consequences.”

She then lays it out.

“ In March, the flood of immigrants crossing the U.S.-Mexico border illegally was 67% higher than at the same time in 2019, when the United States last experienced a surge of immigrants at the border. According to Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, “We are on pace to encounter more individuals on the southwest border than we have in the last 20 years.” Our southern border is not secure… This is a crisis. Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey has declared a state of emergency in several counties and deployed the National Guard. And it is a crisis that is entirely President Joe Biden’s making. Every action by this administration sends a direct signal to bad actors who control the flow of immigrants and drugs across the border.”

There are dozens of other news stories and opinion pieces all saying the same thing. Here’s an idea…show us any possible reason why this border mess that started with the election and inauguration of doddering ole Joe and has already brought more illegals to our border than in all of 2020 should be blamed on anyone other than Joe Biden.

Guess Abbot has to do something to get his poll numbers back up to or near Matthew McConaughey who hasn’t even if he is going to run yet. Fear is a bad thing

And failing to protect our border and causing that fear is worse.

Has Biden placed a 25% tariff on Mexican goods entering the US due to the rise in illegal border crossings? If he has not done so, then yes…Biden has removed that agreement.

You have not correlated the two events to rule out COVID being a major reason why migration slowed.

Also from AMLO

“Expectations were created that with the Government of President Biden there would be a better treatment of migrants. And this has caused Central American migrants, and also from our country, wanting to cross the border thinking that it is easier to do so.“

That’s an interesting statement. Basically not being a dick attracted more migrants. Still I believe it is the opening of the US job market that got migrants excited.

Threat is not a policy.

Well it’s definitely on his watch. But I blame the opening of the economy, coupled with the prospect of Biden a bit more humane.

biden’s in charge. Harris too, supposedly

trump shouldnt even come up

Where have I said that there wasn’t an increase of migrants?

There is a significant increase. But my stance is it slowed last year due to Covid and it picked up this year due to Covid restrictions going away.

Neither of which is specifically due to a Biden policy.

youre going to nitpick on what’s policy now

beautiful

meanwhile you still obviously have no idea what biden’s policies are or why they are destroying texas

not biden’s fault, except where he was being too nice and “humane”

humane for whom?

“screw American lives lost, property, drugs influx, and overburdened daycares

we need to turn texas blue “

sick

Biden caused this mess and has done nothing to solve the problem he created. In the words of Senator Kennedy from Louisiana “if someone is acting like they don’t care…it might not be an act. Maybe they really don’t care.”

Biden doesn’t care.

The Trump administration warned the Biden administration about doing what is has done…knowing we would get the screwed up results we’ve gotten.

From npr.org.

“Former acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf says Trump officials warned the incoming Biden administration that dismantling the Trump administration’s immigration policies would cause problems at the southern border.

The Biden administration has largely blamed the challenges at the border on the previous administration, saying it gutted the Department of Homeland Security and used inhumane practices to try to deter migrants. Biden officials describe steps they’ve taken to accept the new influx of unaccompanied minors into the country and end controversial programs that require migrants to remain in Mexico as “a moral imperative.”

But some former Trump administration leaders, such as Wolf, say the Biden administration is dismantling systems that worked.

“There is no consequence anymore,” Wolf told NPR. “The administration is treating this as though it’s a capacity issue and not an illegal behavior issue, and that’s a fundamental difference.”

What, they weren’t coming here because they didn’t like masks?

May 2019 there was a huge surge of illegals. June, Trump implements policy of punishing Mexico with tariffs if they don’t stop surge. Immediately, the surge stops then, not after COVID becomes an issue. There is not only your correlation but your cause and effect.

Biden does not enforce Trump’s policy and everyone knows he wont. Surge begins anew. There is not only your correlation but your cause and effect.

The part of Biden being more humane? That is partially true. He is humane to illegals, not to American citizens.

No jobs.

I’m going to need to see some data.

And 8 million open jobs. Don’t forget that.

Thanks.

Mexico deploys in June 2019 and numbers of encounters dropped. But all they did was shift the problem to Mexico and at what cost?

If it cost us less to do that, then great but I see no evidence of that.

I’m still not a 100% when illegal immigration became such a hot button issue, at least up until Bill Clinton was president it seemed illegal immigration was in part largely frowned down on by both sides. Not saying their was outliers but it didn’t feel like a partisan issue until the past decade. My gut tells me it started with the Dream Act executive order.

Which policy would the Dems have been stronger on?

The “Trumps Xenophobic!!” when he closed travel policy?

Or the “Vaccines won’t be widely available till summer or fall of 2021…” vaccine policy?
