Gosh, sounds just like Trump… Except taking away 2nd A rights…

I’m against erasing e-mails to escape FOIA…

Nah… those were coherent sentences.

after every elected tax loving democrat shows their tax returns…

and if they have taken any tax deductions, they should be exposed for the hypocrites they are

oh look social legislations passed

In terms of ethics reforms under this package, the Democratic plan would not only require lawmakers to pay any judgments dealing with sexual harassment or sexual misconduct, but also any legal awards against them which touch on discrimination based on religion, race, sex, and other matters.

The plan also extends the ban on sexual relationships between lawmakers and House employees to those who serve on House committees.

New ethics rules would also require any lawmaker indicted or charged with a felony to step down from any leadership post and committees while those allegations are dealt with.

It would also require more speedy action by the House Ethics Committee to review such cases; the plan would directly impact two GOP lawmakers now under federal indictment, Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA) – who has been charged with misuse of over $250,000 in campaign funds – and Rep. Chris Collins (R-NY), who is under indictment for insider trading.

Maybe they should also have throw theirs out there for perusal too.

Bet Pelosi wouldn’t go for that.

Trump does not recognize the threat of climate change. He supported legislation that would have denied coverage to people with pre-existing conditions (and was furious with McCain for killing it), he has taken away protections form LGBTQ Americans and killed protection for Dreamers.

Why does this sound like Trump?

No worries, a house committee will be examining Trump’s tax returns soon using a law passed in 1924… You know, good ole days…

The requirements for Presidential eligibility and qualifications are set by The Constitution, not congress.

To change them or add to them would require a Constitutional Amendment.

Nor is this law even required. Like @BlueTex already stated the House can now legally look into Trump’s tax returns meaning any possible skeletons will be exposed soon no matter what.

Mitch is going to be doing that a lot.

This has nothing to do with eligibility or qualification it simply would make the tax return public knowledge.

Congress could not directly override the Constitution’s eligibility requirements for president.
It might be able to make an end run and accomplish this, though.
Maybe it could require that no candidate can receive campaign donations unless they have published 10 years of tax returns.
Perhaps it could require the tax returns before a candidate can participate in party primaries.
I’m just throwing these out as possibilities.

There is always a loophole.

Good thing this doesn’t do that. Trump can still run no matter how bad his returns may or may not be.

No, there isn’t, the constitution is extremely clear on this.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but there is already a body that has the legal authority to look into people’s tax returns. It’s called the IRS. They don’t just have the authority to look into people’s tax returns, but they have the actual authority to take action against people who commit offenses on their taxes. That’s how All Capone was finally brought down . If Donald Trump were guilty of tax fraud, The IRS, especially the weaponized IRS created under the Obama regime, would already have him in prison. The Democrats should be careful what they ask for, If the criminals running the IRS and FBI ever actually get removed from power, and honest people get in, it will be Democrats going to jail. That’s why they fight the swamp being drained…
