From the little bit of information that has leaked to the Press about the President’s taxes it has been found out that he and his family engaged in decades of tax fraud to transfer Fred Trump’s real estate empire to his children.

Not only did it involve direct transfer of large assets without taxation, there was also highly illegal self dealing between Trump owned companies for tax avoidance.

By the end of all of this. when the full story is finally known, I have a feeling the one’s who are arguing against this measure of transparency might feel a little foolish.

Trump is a tax cheat and fraud and a lot of his supporters dont mind that because they hate the IRS. So in the same boat they would do the same thing.

And the crazy thing is that Fred Trump made his fortune because of government largess.

He was for real a hard working man who capitalized on his work ethic and smarts, but it is unlikely that he would have amassed the fortune that he did without massive government spending in FHA loans.

If the sale was illegal (via bribery) there should be charges so that the illegally obtained property can be seized. It happens every day.

No, I mean for real that Fred Trump made a lot of his money in a very legitimate fashion… well as legitimate as one can get building in Brooklyn and Queens after WW2.

What gets me though is the disconnect between amassing an enormous fortune because of direct investment of money by the Federal Government into an industry and the need to avoid paying taxes to the very entity that created that wealth.

It makes no sense to me.

I can separate my opinion of Fred Trump, the guy who worked hard and pretty much became a self made billionaire from the massive tax cheat that he later became.

His son the President though? That guy failed upwards his entire life.

I can also see that side of your point.

It is just very strange… and it isn’t just billionaires who made a crap ton of money off of government money but also those who rely on big government money being spent directly or indirectly into their economy feeling that somehow they are getting short shrift.

Maybe it is the same effect that brings us the “keep you government hands off my Medicare” argument

I don’t totally agree.

The guy started building things when he was 15 years old and he got into building supermarkets right before they became a thing.

I doubt that we will agree on this, but I can compartmentalize the parts of Fred Trump’s story that I find admirable and have no problem criticizing the long list of bad things.
