French authorities unveiled a series of economic sanctions against Tehran Tuesday; “freezing assets” of intelligence officials after an Iranian-backed bomb plot failed in the suburbs outside of Paris.

According to Yahoo News, France blasted leaders in Iran just three months after investigators busted a planned bombing at a meeting of an exiled Iranian opposition group near the French capital.

“This extremely serious act envisaged on our territory could not go without a response,” France’s interior, foreign and economy ministers confirmed in a joint statement.

"In taking this decision, France underlines its determination to fight against terrorism in all its forms, particularly on its own territory,” added the officials.

Sources close to the investigation confirmed “the head of operations at the [Iranian] intelligence ministry” was involved in the operation.
