No … it s not. At the level it is emitted and the concentration it exists, it does us no harm whatsoever. And just like oxygen, it is essential for life of the bio system.
That’s the elephant in the room isn’t it. I personally would like to see global emissions cut, but the term global means nothing when the biggest global emitters are pumping out so much carbon into the atmosphere that it negates everything the rest of the world does. It’s like handing a homeless person a quarter. It’s a nice gesture but in the big picture it does nothing.
If the biggest investors, the U.N. and climate activists were serious they have to go after China and India first. You can add as many carbon taxes as you want to western populations and still every time a coal plant in China goes online (A new one each week) everything you did was for nothing.
I think that population growth is likely more so the elephant in the room than this since leaders from China and India can simply give lip service to this issue while doing actual nothing. On the other hand even if actions are taken by many countries those actions will simply be nullified by population growth which leads to deforestation and we all know the biggest “enemy” of CO2 are trees.
And in other news, shipping giant Maersk has announced it has purchased the rights to every oak tree on the planet with the stated goal of building a million clipper ships by the year 2050.
