Transgender people in sports is a complex thing and ultimately I think the solution will be to separate divisions by other physical factors and not gender.
Regarding “mandatory pronouns”… should it be considered acceptable for an employer to intentional always refer to a male employee using female pronouns without the employee’s consent?
Most binary transgender people don’t like having being trans be part of their public identity. Also I don’t think there are enough trans athletes to be able to sustain their own league anyway.
They shouldn’t be allowed to compete down if they want to compete up that’s fine in my book. For instance a woman on steroids who wants to fight a man in MMA or play NBA whatever.
Fighting down as in a natural woman who is on steroids transitioning fighting/wrestling/ playing against girls. Steroids is banned in all sports for a reason they give the user an advantage in strength this is just science.
Also even worse is the man who are transitioning or whatever fighting females that ■■■■ just needs to stop.
They will be enough we have a special Olympics it’s not the biggest sporting event in the world but it allows them to play at their level, without given someone transitioning to be retarded and advantage over them.
They should just stop basing it on gender and sex and focus instead on the physical characteristics that those sex categories are based on.
Regarding steroids… its not like performance enhancing steroids where its acting on top of the bodies natural hormones, they are taken while at the same time taking medication that inhibits their bodies natural hormone development.
Irrelevant… separate but equal isn’t going to fly here. A solution should be inclusive, not exclusive.
I think its unfair to make blanket assumptions about the abilities of trans women. There are many factors that decide if previously being male gives the athlete an unfair advantage.
I don’t think there are many situations with a trans person starting hormones and then competing in sports right away. In generally takes about a year for things to stabilize and the different sports can come up with their own rules about how long they required. The Olympics requires at least a year.
I think most, at least in the developed world, have moved beyond caring if teo men or two women want an intimate relationship.
Things start too get a little strange, though, when the pronouns no one heard about since high school English class come into vogue, and new offenses come into being—like misgendering & calling someone by something other than their preferred gender pronouns.
It’s gone way too far when Drag Queen Story Hour and kids in the elementary grades reading I Am Jazz is considered normal.
And then, as always, Marvel brings back the replaced character. Every single time.
The complaints over Miles Morales were the stupidest of those listed. He didn’t even replace the original Spider-Man, but rather the Spider-Man of an alternate universe.
Lady Thor was cool and made for some neat stories. I didn’t see much complaints over that. Thor eventually got the hammer back.
There used to be a male Captain Marvel. He died decades ago, and Carol Danver’s remained as Ms. Marvel. It was only some time in the last few years that Danvers embraced the Captain Marvel persona. Then, some time after that Kamala Khan was created to take on the Ms. Marvel mantle.
I don’t agree with that statement “There are many factors that decide if previously being male gives the athlete an unfair advantage.”
Regardless of how much estrogen you pump into a man there has been decades of testosterone being made in their bodies to make them stronger. And even if one does some sort of mental gymnastics around this, bone density in men is greater than women.
Everyone has known forever that this has been the case which is why we have men leagues and women’s leagues. Stick any female basketball player at the professional level in the man’s association and they’re going to get destroyed this goes in every single sport. The boys eighth grade soccer team in Australia beat the women’s Olympic team like 7-0.
I think they should have their own league if it’s that big of a deal instead of trying to change things that have worked for centuries just to appease a tiny portion of the population.
One can get into all kinds of things that are not fair. I’m 6’ 2” tall on it’s own above average, but a dwarf and a disadvantage in ever being able to get into the NBA regardless of skill. If I was 7’2” and sucked I would have a good chance of making it in the NBA. So in essence we have a height discrimination, one can’t control their height anymore than they can change their sex we just go about our lives.
As previously mentioned, a separate league is a non-starter.
Sports have changed constantly over the last centuries… kind of a silly argument. It’s not just appeasing a tiny portion of the population. I’m not trans, but I’d like to see things change. Skill levels in sports should be separated by skill, not gender/sex.
Are you fine with making new commercial and public buildings have to be able to support handicap people (elevators, ramps, wheel chair friendly restrooms, etc) or should that be up to the person building it?
Why not have leagues based on height and ability instead of sex?
If you can break one of the most fundamental rules of life on the entire planet -man is not woman- than you can break any rule… any.
And that is where political ideology enters the discussion. Such ideologies that want to destroy our culture are eager to destroy the fabric of our society… all the basic rules that have defined who we are and what we believe.
