Yes…I had a BIG problem with that when I heard it this morning on the radio…HELLO???

This is the Wikipedia that Louie Gohmert was whining about, right?

King may be dumb, but not as dumb as Gohmert.

Google is a website, how do you “bust” that up.

You are correct.

The deck is stacked when googel is embedded in the browser interface. Many/most users will just type a search into the browser and Googel takes it as a search request.

I am not advocating anything more than awareness and having this discussion. I think it is a travesty that one company dominates this function and market.

It is the embedding that I object to.

I also do not like the buying and consolidating of similar services…to help create a monopoly.

But you haven’t explain what google search has specifically done to warrant your suggestion of breaking them up? What is it about google search that has you worried?

Sounds like you don’t understand how search works, which is easily researched.

I have stated my concerns. Marketing and embedded function for an almost complete market share.

Not healthy for consumers.

I have noticed the silence on this…https://securitytoday.com/articles/2018/12/12/google-plus-to-shutter-early-due-to-second-data-breach.aspx

Your only “concern” is that you think (incorrectly) that Google is a monopoly and that it shouldn’t be…for some reason.

Embedding what exactly? Google.com is a website not software. There is no google search engine software embedded on any personal device.

The argument is retarded. It’s easy to get upset when you don’t know how anything works.

Agreed. My 82 year old mother gets very frustrated with her iPad, mostly because she still doesn’t know how to use it correctly.

embedding in what? google is a website.

Why do you think it’s a travesty that one company provides a product/service that a vast majority of people prefer over others?

Yeah no kidding Sherlock! I’m not a techie in any sense of the word but I have google, google maps, and You tube on my iphone so what kind of idiotic response is that from the CEO of google!

It’s a perfectly reasonable answer to an idiotic question from King.

How is it idiotic if the apps are certainly available on an iphone! Doesn’t google operate the same way on any brand of cell phone, tablet or PC? I have all brands of devices and they all have google!!! So you tell me why the CEO couldn’t come up a more substantive answer other the moron response of “its a different company”. It was a stupid and insulting remark, IMO!!

It was a stupid question to ask the google rep why something about a 7 yr olds grandfather comes up on an Iphone. Ask Apple.

Google maps and Youtube are not default apps on the iPhone, meaning they do not come pre-installed. The device user has to install them, and there is no “google” on your phone either. Google is a web based search engine that requires no software to be installed on your device.

The question in question:

I have a 7-year-old granddaughter who picked up her phone during the election, and she’s playing a little game, the kind of game a kid would play," King told Pichai. “And up on there pops a picture of her grandfather. And I’m not going to say into the record what kind of language was used around that picture of her grandfather, but I’d ask you: how does that show up on a 7-year-old’s iPhone, who’s playing a kid’s game?”

How is Google supposed to answer that? That is question for the app maker.
