No. You’re not a NY gun owner either.

I don’t mind that Alta Vista was bought out and failed.

I do mind that Google has become a monopoly. That is what it is. It will destroy Yahoo and Bing next.

This is a more valid issue than too many liberals at Google.

Google will laugh at that all day.

Again, being a monopoly is not illegal… anti-trust is illegal… Is there any evidence Google has violated anti-trust laws?

Too many liberals at Google? So we must regulate thought.

Man… A dichotomous view of the world must be exhausting.

We need quotas at Google by political beliefs… LOL

Federal COMMUNICATIONS Commission.

That is what it is. Does 5G, and ethernet lines and WiFi qualify for an exemption?

That is what needs discussed. Not the Mueller collusion, caravan and various other media diversion ■■■■■■■■■

:mega:

I wonder what the Venn diagram of people who set their hair on fire about Obama’s net neutrality regulation and those who want to regulate Google’s algorithms would look like.

Republicans should definitely push for legislation that forces some people to use sites other google…

Of course they would have monitor everyone’s internet activity to enforce that and assign jail time if someone uses google too much…

Those are physical providers. The spectrum and the infrastructure are regulated. The content across that structure is not.

Do you consider cable television communication? Why doesn’t the FCC regulate that? When did congress authorize the FCC to regulate the internet?

Yep. It’s Trump’s Party now. You support Republicans and you support Trump. No other way around it.

I am saying this is a deflection.

Nobody cares how many liberals are at Google.

It hasn’t. What HAS happened is that the internet has taken the broadcast audience away and the cable and satellite audience is moving away rapidly too.

Soon the internet and COMMUNICATION will be one and the same.

Time to have the discussion.

Well except for Steve King and the GOP. Did you not read the OP?

I disagree with him. He is on the wrong trail.

Yes or no, the default web browser for iPhones is Google Chrome?

I think there’s an issue with Google being the default search engine on both IOS and Android. Not much different from the user perspective than IE4 being bundled with Windows as default in the 90s.

Having said that, King is probably the nation’s dumbest Congressman and should probably not have been permitted to speak to Sundar, as his presence nullifies any legitimate concerns.

Fair enough.

Yet it has been brought up as an issue.

It is the unfounded perception that Google is skewing it’s search algorithms to favor what is perceived as liberal is what is at issue for people like Rep. King.

The Microsoft issue was a bit different than this one. They were hit up on anti competitive practices… like offering Internet Explorer for free when Netscape was something that people had to pay for and they tilted the OS to be less compatible with third party browsers.

That is quite different than having a default when a phone is purchased since there are no barriers to change that default.
