One has to ask…were those that did this malfeasance ever prosecuted? They should serve double the time the wrongly convicted were due to their actions.
Your concern is touching. Many don’t even get a trial these days. They’re straight up murdered while in police custody.

There are other forensic methodologies, that are just as reliable, that also reach the threshold of beyond any reasonable doubt, that could also be applied.

Why do you say this in such a crass way? I want justice applied equally to all and have been very consistent in stating this.

I was wondering what happened?
Video “proof” can be manipulated just as well as “eyewitness testimony”. Three sides to every story.

For a young person who could spend 50+ years in jail, life in prison is a harsher punishment than the death penalty, in my opinion.

That may be but why waste the money? When someone takes a life, they just chose to forfeit their own IMO and if this becomes the norm, murder rates will come down. Isn’t that the goal?

If it can be agreed that killing is wrong, then being killed by the state is also wrong.
Murder is wrong. Not killing. Killing can be fully justified in some situations.
Some people deserve a bullet to the brain stem. Child molesters are a good example of people who aren’t fit to live in civilized society. Or even prison society. They need to be removed completely.
When it comes to state handling executions, my standard is beyond all doubt. Which means that I am effectively anti death penalty because the current standard for criminal justice is beyond a reasonable doubt.
But if we can reach that level where the standard is beyond all doubt, then I would fully support executions for the most heinous of crimes.

Is there any evidence that the death penalty lowers murder rates?

Have you ever seen a murderer who has suffered the death penalty, come back to life and murder again?

Killing, is killing.
Remove them from society, and let them live a long, boring, life.

No. It’s not.
If you kill someone in self defense is that the same thing as attacking an old lady and shooting her in the face?
Of course it isn’t. Killing to save your own life or the lives of others around you is a fully justified use of lethal force.

I just proved one way…now to add another way, the executions would need to be publicized for all to see what happens to a murderer. The fear factor would come into play and the murder rates would go down.
I don’t agree with that.
Executions should never be public affairs to rile up a crowd.
It should be done quietly and efficiently. A bullet to the back of the head in a sealed room would suffice.

There’s merit to both sides of that argument so I don’t totally disagree with you.

We are not going to agree…and that is fine.
The state killing a human, is wrong.
I understand the emotional aspect of it…but as a society, if we are going to say killing is wrong, than we as a society should not kill.
Period.
Most of the western/civilized world does not have the death penalty.
