It is ridiculous. It’s not even debatable. I will never retreat from my home. Thankfully it’s also not easy to prove the home owner could have retreated. Those convicted are usually ignorant to the law They incriminate themselves.

Me either. I’m not going to retreat/run from my own home.

Was anyone breaking into their house?

Only because they didnt wave them against the correct group. Some groups are favored over others. If they had waved them during a UniteTheRight protest, they would have received keys to the city.

Victimhood! Grievance!

That’s insane.

In Alaska, several years back, a minister staked out his church because it had been broken into twice in the previous couple of weeks and shot two armed intruders … one while attempting to get out a window and the second (who later died) as he ran across the yard. Both had long rap sheets for various crimes. He was arrested, but a jury of his peers (people in his community who were fed up with the rash of burglaries) found him innocent (even though the rap sheets were inadmissible.) That’s justice.

As the saying goes, it’s better to be judged by 12 than to be carried by six.

Did they shoot anyone?

What about a trespasser in your house climbing though a broken window while something important is going on.

Allan

What about them?

Do you have the right to shoot the person who is trespassing though the broken window?

Allan

That’s not trespassing, and yes.

That’s a good saying.

My anecdote was not about rights.

And neither, really, is your question.

It was years ago when I was in my mid teens. A police officer who was a friend of the family told me exactly that. Not in your exact words, but the same idea was behind it. At the time the hot topic was a police officer killing an unarmed man. I’ll always remember that.

I was driving through Missouri recently and saw some billboards. I couldn’t believe it.

Bad idea turned out how you might expect.

But of course if they had been a right wing group, then if they had not been shot they would have gone on to hang the home owners. Everyone knows that, just like Jan 6.

pardons dont stop fines or seizures.

plea deal remains in effect.

the news for them if they stop waving guns at protestors, they can continue to practice law.
